Aon Reports Strong First-Quarter Results for 2026

On May 1, 2026, Aon plc (NYSE: AON) unveiled impressive results for the first quarter ending March 31, 2026. The company exhibited a robust performance characterized by remarkable revenue growth and an increase in earnings per share (EPS).

Financial Highlights

During the first quarter, Aon achieved total revenues of $5.034 billion, reflecting a 6% growth compared to the $4.729 billion reported in the same quarter of the previous year. This increase was driven by a solid 5% organic revenue growth, combined with a favorable 4% impact from foreign currency translation, though this was slightly offset by a 3% adverse effect from divestitures.

Aon's operating income rose significantly by 17%, from $1.461 billion to $1.715 billion, resulting in an operating margin increase from 30.9% to 34.1%. Meanwhile, adjusted operating income, which excludes certain items, grew by 8%, reaching $1.966 billion with an adjusted operating margin of 39.1%.

Net income attributed to Aon shareholders witnessed a remarkable 27% surge, reaching $1.212 billion or $5.63 per diluted share, compared to $0.4.43 per share in the previous year. The adjusted net income also rose by 14% to $6.48 per diluted share, influenced by favorable foreign currency translation.

Capital Allocation and Dividends

In alignment with its disciplined capital allocation strategy, Aon announced the return of $662 million to its shareholders through dividends and share repurchases during the quarter. This figure included a notable 10% increase in quarterly dividends, marking the sixth consecutive year of double-digit annual increases.

Aon's continued commitment to returning capital reflects its strong balance sheet position and the company’s generation of robust free cash flow, amounting to $363 million, which is a staggering 332% increase compared to the previous year.

Strategic Execution

Greg Case, President and CEO of Aon, attributed the strong results to the successful execution of the company's 3x3 Plan and the Aon United strategy. He stated,
