Amorepacific Unveils AI-Driven Beauty Research Insights at IFSCC 2026

In a remarkable showcase at the International Federation of Societies of Cosmetic Chemists (IFSCC) Congress 2026, Amorepacific stepped into the future of skincare by unveiling its cutting-edge, AI-driven research. The congress, which is the largest of its kind in the cosmetics industry, took place in Perth, Australia, from September 28 to October 1, featuring the theme 'Solving the Sustainable Beauty Equation.'

Amorepacific presented its findings through nine innovative studies that focused on predicting skin aging, quantifying digital sensory experiences, and gathering global consumer insights. The research highlighted how artificial intelligence and digital technologies are reshaping the landscape of beauty science towards enhanced prediction, quantification, and a deeper understanding of consumer behavior.

Among the standout presentations was that of Eun-Jeong Choi, a researcher from the Amorepacific RI Center. Choi's study, titled 'Skin Aging in the Era of Global Boiling: Deep Learning-Guided Transcriptomic Signatures of Heat-Accelerated Aging,' emphasized over two decades of research into the impact of heat on skin aging. Utilizing transcriptomic analysis in conjunction with deep learning methods, this research aims to predict the progress of skin aging and evaluate the effective ingredients for restoring damage associated with age. Notably, this work has established a pioneering basis for future studies on skin longevity. The study's groundbreaking findings earned it recognition as one of the top 10 fundamental research awards at the congress.

Another significant contribution came from researcher Jeong Yu Lee, who focused on the digital sensory experience with the presentation, 'Electroluminescent Visualization of Skin Hydrodynamics for Digital Sensory Quantification.' This study introduced a novel technique allowing for real-time visualization of moisture distribution and movement on the skin during product application. This approach quantitatively measures subtle electrical changes in the skin, aiming to correlate these findings with consumer experiences comprehensively. Lee's study was also honored as one of the top 10 applied research awards, further establishing the technical prowess of Amorepacific in sensory quantification.

Additionally, Jinseob Shin from Amorepacific's Americas Research Institute shared insights through his study focusing on 'AI-Based Consumer Research on Barrier-Repair Moisturizers for Sensitive Skin.' By engaging in AI-powered video interview analysis, the study evaluated consumer experiences with dermocosmetic products in Brazil and Mexico, pinpointing key preference drivers, such as fast absorption and skin barrier enhancement. This innovative research approach illustrates a synthesis of real-user experiences and advanced AI analytics, fostering an entirely new dimension in consumer product evaluation.

Brian Byung-Fhy Suh, the Chief Technology Officer at Amorepacific, articulated the company’s vision stating, 'We are dedicated to exploring new frontiers in skin science by blending AI with digital technologies. Our efforts are centered around creating holistic longevity solutions that cater to the skin’s health across changing environmental conditions. Our ongoing commitment lies in advancing research in prediction, quantification, and consumer understanding through hybrid technologies that merge our expertise in skin science with innovation in AI.'

This commitment to harnessing technology for beauty science not only enhances the skincare landscape but also illustrates Amorepacific's leadership in the evolving dialogue around sustainable beauty practices. As the industry increasingly shifts towards data-driven methodologies, Amorepacific remains at the forefront, ensuring that it meets the diverse needs of consumers while contributing to sustainable practices in beauty and skincare.
