LONGi Unveils Ambitious Solar Panel Production Facility in Indonesia

LONGi's Strategic Move in Indonesia's Solar Industry

In a groundbreaking development for Indonesia's renewable energy sector, LONGi, a global frontrunner in solar photovoltaic (PV) solutions, has initiated a strategic project to build a cutting-edge solar panel manufacturing facility in collaboration with Pertamina New Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE). This ambitious venture not only aims to enhance the local energy landscape but also supports Indonesia's significant transition toward renewable energy.

A Commitment to Renewable Energy

The new factory, set to be located in Deltamas, West Java, will boast an impressive annual production capacity of 1.6 gigawatts (GW). By utilizing LONGi's state-of-the-art Hybrid Passivated Back Contact (HPBC) 2.0 technology, the facility will produce high-efficiency solar modules tailored to meet the surging demand for solar power both domestically and across Southeast Asia.

The collaboration emphasizes a shared dedication to advancing renewable energy adoption in the region while aligning with Indonesia's ambitious energy transition goals. This facility will significantly boost the country's domestic production capabilities in solar PV technology, which is vital as the demand for renewable energy continues to rise.

Strengthening Local Supply Chains

LONGi's partnership with Pertamina NRE marks a pivotal step toward enhancing Indonesia's renewable energy supply chain. By integrating LONGi's extensive experience in solar technology with Pertamina NRE’s local market expertise, the collaboration aims to strengthen the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) in Indonesia. This is in line with the government's push for increased local content in renewable energy projects, ultimately facilitating a robust local industry that can fulfill rising energy needs.

As outlined in the Indonesian government's RUPTL 2025-2034 plan, the country has set a target of 17.1 GW of new solar installations over the next decade. LONGi's manufacturing project comes at a crucial time, positioning itself to assist in meeting this target while bolstering the local PV industry and ensuring that the region can accommodate its growing energy demands effectively.

A Vision for Sustainable Development

During the launch event, Mr. Dennis She, the Vice President of LONGi Group, articulated the company's vision for contributing positively to sustainable energy development in Indonesia. He stated, "This facility represents not just an investment in manufacturing but a long-term partnership to accelerate Indonesia's clean energy future. By localizing production, we aim to drive down costs, foster innovation, and create high-value green jobs, reinforcing our commitment to a net-zero world."

This initiative not only signifies a major investment into Indonesia's energy infrastructure but also underscores LONGi's commitment to sustainable practices and technological excellence. By establishing a strong presence in the local market, LONGi is poised to play a pivotal role in the future of renewable energy in Indonesia.

Looking Ahead

With its unparalleled expertise and innovative approach, LONGi is set to propel Indonesia's clean energy agenda forward. This strategic collaboration stands to elevate Indonesia as a key player in the global renewable energy landscape, paving the way for a greener future driven by high-quality solar technology. The anticipated outcomes promise to be beneficial not only for the local economy and job market but also for the overarching goal of achieving a sustainable energy sector.

As LONGi begins preparations for manufacturing in June 2025, the project reaffirms its intention to contribute to a significant change in how renewable energy is produced and consumed in Southeast Asia. This milestone not only represents a substantial leap for LONGi but also marks a promising horizon for Indonesia's energy future.
