Recently, UNIDY, a home center operated by Iris Plaza Daiunikan Company, has adopted the innovative leasing DX system known as 'Shop Counter Enterprise,' developed by Counterworks Co., Ltd. This initiative, aimed at improving event management at retail locations, reflects a significant stride towards enhancing overall profitability, especially through the enhancement of external revenue streams. Iris Plaza is a part of the Iris Ohyama Group and operates 15 UNIDY stores in the Kanto region along with 16 Daisin stores in Miyagi Prefecture. The company has diversified its offerings to include a wide range of products and services such as DIY tools, appliances, gardening supplies, and daily necessities while emphasizing harmony with the environment and the community.
The retail landscape is evolving, and there has been a growing emphasis on strengthening events as a way for UNIDY to optimize its business model. The challenge, however, lies in the absence of dedicated staff for event operations and a lack of unified management tools. Consequently, the processes associated with coordinating events—from consultations for remodeling to various events hosted by different departments—often become cumbersome. Further complicating matters, the reliance on leasing agents has hindered new tenant acquisitions, as businesses tend to remain fixed.
Previously, UNIDY had utilized a short-term leasing matching platform, 'Shop Counter.' With the recent integration of the 'Shop Counter Enterprise,' the home center has established a comprehensive system that combines a unique recruitment site with sales management functions, marking a shift towards self-directed event management.
This new system is expected to expand revenue streams through increased event income. It aims to foster connections with new tenants and stimulate customer motivation to visit stores. Additionally, operations such as billing, scheduling, and compliance checks—previously managed separately at each store—can now be efficiently handled through 'Shop Counter Enterprise.' This unification is projected to greatly enhance overall operational efficiency, particularly in adjusting and managing cross-departmental events like exhibitions and consultation sessions.
To facilitate this transition, Counterworks will provide dedicated consultation support throughout the initial design, deployment, and ongoing operational phases. Utilizing extensive industry insights and data, they will assist with proposals for expanding event spaces, KPI design, and streamlining workflows. This comprehensive approach will enable UNIDY to generate measurable results even without prior in-house expertise.
The initial rollout will target 12 UNIDY locations capable of hosting events, with plans to gradually expand recruitment space as operations stabilize and performance is monitored.
In a statement from Ichitaka Uno, the Manager of the Management and Store Development Team at Iris Plaza Daiunikan Company, he emphasized the necessity of diversifying revenue streams through events as crucial for improving store profitability. By adopting 'Shop Counter Enterprise,' they anticipate forming valuable connections with previously untapped businesses, enabling diverse event offerings. Improved schedule and billing management are set to facilitate more strategic event operations even with a limited team. He expressed commitment to leveraging this system effectively to achieve tangible results with the support of Counterworks.
