Huawei Digital Power Introduces Multi-Scenario Solutions with Grid Forming Technology and AI at IDEE 2026

Huawei Digital Power Showcases Innovations at IDEE 2026

The 4th International Digital Energy Expo (IDEE 2026), which took place from September 15 to 17, served as a platform for Huawei Digital Power to unveil its latest innovations in grid forming technologies and AI applications tailored for the renewable energy sector. Under the theme "Making the Most of Every Ray, Powering the Unpowered", Huawei displayed a suite of solutions aimed at enhancing energy efficiency and reliability.

Groundbreaking Solutions for Utilities and Energy Management

Huawei introduced significant advancements in its FusionSolar 9.0 Utility PV Solution. Highlighted as the industry's first 1000 VAC solution, this innovation also includes a groundbreaking grid-forming string inverter and the largest smart transformer station operating at 11 MW. With enhanced performance ratios and intelligent management capabilities, these solutions are set to transform large-scale renewable energy plants.

Particularly noteworthy is the innovative smart string inverter, which incorporates grid awareness and oscillation damping, benefiting from the FusionSolar Agent—a device-edge-cloud collaborative platform designed to tackle electricity market challenges while maximizing returns. Achieving the highest certification, the Smart I-V Curve Diagnosis solution recently passed the rigorous L5 test by the China General Certification Center, marking a significant milestone in industry standards.

Enhanced Stability for Power Grids

Huawei has developed an array of grid-forming capabilities at the installation level, designed to stabilize electrical grids while improving maintenance and management opportunities. These capabilities include short-circuit support, inertial response, broadband oscillation damping, primary frequency regulation, and seamless transitions between grid-connected and island operation modes. The new Smart String Grid Forming ESS Solution offers the first intelligent string architecture in the sector, optimizing performance across the energy lifecycle and significantly enhancing efficiency and revenue potential.

The solution supports configurations of 1000 VAC and an operational output of 12.5 MW/50 MWh, pushing the boundaries of what is achievable within the industry. The result is a superlative performance ratio and a system capable of harmonizing the complexities of energy trading via a sophisticated digital twin platform.

Smart Microgrids: Meeting Diverse Energy Needs

Huawei’s Smart Microgrid Solution aims to provide stable energy supply and efficient electricity usage across varied settings, especially in regions lacking sufficient electricity. This solution is adaptable to both robust and weaker electrical grids and ensures seamless operation in VSG (Virtual Synchronous Grid) mode, with an impressive switching time of just 40 milliseconds.

The capabilities of this microgrid extend to supporting a grid-forming SOC range of 5% to 98%, allowing for flexible system configurations that enhance energy efficiency further. With multiple voltage source compatibility, the solution promises to deliver a stable and reliable electricity supply under varying conditions.

Green Energy for Commercial and Industrial Applications

For commercial and industrial sectors, Huawei showcased its CI One-Fits-All solution, accommodating various scenarios including PV-only setups, ESS-only systems, and hybrids like PV+ESS and Charger+ESS configurations. The introduction of a series of 241 kWh CI Hybrid Cooling Grid Forming ESS Solutions streamlines thermal management, achieving a round-trip efficiency of 91.8% while pushing the depth of discharge to an industry-leading 100%.

Now, Huawei aims to redefine the ultraspeed charging experience with its AI-powered FusionCharge system, integrating PV, ESS, and chargers into a coherent microgrid structure designed for electric vehicles. This system promises to provide protection for both the grid and devices, enhancing the revenue generation of charging stations by over 15% in synergy with logistics and urban developments.

Redefining Data Center Infrastructure with AI

Huawei’s innovative “3+1” approach for net-interactive AIDC (AI Data Center) solutions sets new benchmarks for energy efficiency and delivery speed in computing infrastructure. By merging MIMO power architectures with grid-friendly UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supplies) alongside an AI-guided cooling system, this solution offers unparalleled operational reliability and visibility throughout the data center's lifecycle.

Through rigorous R&D processes, supply chain management, and quality insurances across its products, Huawei Digital Power underlines its commitment to delivering excellence across all operational contexts, ensuring performance reliability even in extreme conditions.

Looking ahead, Huawei Digital Power is set to continue being a catalyst for innovation, focusing on quality as a cornerstone while advancing energy sector standards worldwide, thereby delivering sustained value to its customers in the long term.
