ADAMA Ltd. Receives EU Approval for Innovative Molluscicide Feralla®

ADAMA Ltd. Secures EU Approval for Feralla®

ADAMA Ltd., a prominent player in the global crop protection industry, has recently achieved a significant milestone with the approval of its novel active ingredient Feralla® in the European Union. This approval was granted by the Standing Committee on Plants, Animals, Food and Feed (SCoPAFF) during their March 2025 meeting, marking Feralla® as a low-risk active substance designed specifically for mollusc control.

This new molluscicide stands out by offering several advantages over conventional products, particularly those based on Ferric-Phosphate. Farmers utilizing Feralla® can expect a swift cessation of mollusc feeding behavior and notably improved pellet durability. Studies indicate that farmers can witness results as quickly as three days post-application, drastically mitigating crop damage, which in turn bodes well for both the yield and quality of produce.

Field trials have been particularly promising, showcasing Feralla®'s remarkable efficacy, which resulted in a 90% reduction in crop damage within the initial three days. Enhanced by the proprietary Desidro® Technology from ADAMA, Feralla® not only boosts bait attractiveness but also requires a lower concentration of the active ingredient. This is a significant advantage for farmers, helping them achieve their sustainability goals in agricultural practices.

Desidro® Technology employs a sophisticated multi-stage drying process at meticulously controlled humidity levels, leading to a product that has exceptional anti-moulding characteristics. Additionally, it has been proven to withstand severe weather conditions, thereby lengthening its field efficacy.

Germain Boulay, ADAMA's Head of Global Herbicides and Molluscicides, expressed enthusiasm about the EU's approval, stating, “We are thrilled to receive this endorsement from SCoPAFF, acknowledging Feralla® as a sustainable solution for mollusc control. This recognition underscores ADAMA’s dedication to delivering innovative solutions that aid European farmers in enhancing both crop yield and quality.”

In a landscape where European farmers are increasingly tasked with managing pest control while adhering to strict regulatory standards, the approval of Feralla® moves ADAMA closer to providing robust mollusc control products. This will not only support farmers in effectively managing pests but also ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and consumer expectations.

The inaugural Feralla®-based product is anticipated to hit the UK market within this year, followed by a broader rollout across various European nations. This strategic launch is set to empower farmers by providing them with an effective tool against molluscs, ultimately contributing to the sustainability of agriculture.
