Arcadia University Launches Workforce Development Solutions
In an exciting move to address the growing workforce challenges in Pennsylvania,
Arcadia University has unveiled its new
Workforce Development program, launching in collaboration with
Core Education. This initiative aims to assist employers in enhancing recruitment, retention, and upskilling of their employees, making it a critical response to the pressing skills gaps many industries are currently facing.
The program is designed to provide tailored online certificate courses that are both customizable and scalable to meet the unique demands of different organizations. As businesses continue to grapple with workforce shortages, particularly in high-demand sectors such as healthcare, IT, and manufacturing, Arcadia University's initiative offers a robust solution. A recent report from the
Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry noted that with 304,000 job vacancies against only 233,000 unemployed residents actively seeking work, there remains a stark deficit of talent amounting to over 70,000 individuals necessary to fill roles and drive growth.
With more than 150 industry-recognized certificate programs on offer, the Workforce Development program is structured to cater to professional development needs while also providing continuing education units (CEUs) where applicable. The flexibility of online and hybrid formats allows busy professionals to integrate learning into their schedules seamlessly.
Scott Miller, Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships at Core Education, articulated the importance of adaptive partnerships in today’s economy. He remarked, "Pennsylvania's economy is evolving rapidly, and its employers need workforce partners who can evolve with it. Our collaboration with Arcadia ensures that organizations are equipped with the skills and agility to lead in a competitive market."
In addition to offering immediate training solutions, Arcadia’s program creates pathways for individuals who may have some college education but have yet to earn a degree. Students have the opportunity to stack multiple certificates or transition smoothly into a bachelor’s degree program, providing a comprehensive educational framework.
Dr. John Noakes, Associate Provost and Director of the new Center for Professional Futures at Arcadia University, emphasized the need for strategic partnerships between academia and businesses. He said, "Employers are demanding more strategic and skill-focused partnerships to stay competitive. This partnership with Core Education allows us to respond with purpose—aligning our academic strengths to the real-world workforce needs of Pennsylvania businesses."
As Pennsylvania continues to adapt to the challenges posed by an evolving labor market, initiatives like the Workforce Development program are essential. By partnering with organizations like Core Education, Arcadia University not only enhances educational opportunities for students but also plays a vital role in ensuring the competitiveness and growth of local businesses in the state.
