Jibu Gas One Limited Wins School Fuel Transition Project in Rwanda

In a significant achievement, Jibu Gas One Limited, a group company of Saisan Co., Ltd., has secured a contract for a vital school fuel transition project in Rwanda, executed by the International Organization for Migration (IOM). This win marks the first instance of a Japanese company winning a bid for an energy-related project with IOM, highlighting the company's growing international reputation and technical prowess in the energy sector.

The project aims to transform cooking fuels from firewood to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in seven educational institutions across Rwanda. This transition is expected to yield substantial benefits including shorter cooking times, a reduction in air pollution, the protection of forest resources, and improvements in the health and safety of both students and cooking staff.

Once relying on firewood, which leads to deforestation and health hazards from smoke, these schools will now harness the exceptional energy characteristics of LPG. It is estimated that around 2.3 billion people worldwide still lack access to cleaner energy, emphasizing the urgency of this initiative. The movement to LPG is gaining traction, particularly in developing countries, as it offers an efficient and sustainable solution to energy challenges.

The completion ceremony for the delivery of LPG to one of the schools took place on July 28, local time, attended by numerous stakeholders, including members of the Rwandan government and the Japanese ambassador to Rwanda. This gathering not only celebrated the completion of the first LPG installation but also underscored the importance of international collaboration in advancing energy solutions.

Jibu Gas One Limited is poised to expand its influence in Rwanda and the broader East African region with its Smart Station LPG initiative, aligning perfectly with their corporate vision, "The Gas One Vision 2045." This vision aims for the company to become a leading energy and life-related business in the Asia-Pacific region by its 100th anniversary in 2045.

The transition from traditional fuels to LPG doesn’t just represent economic growth for Jibu Gas One Limited; it also addresses pressing environmental and health concerns. With many developing regions still reliant on solid fuels, the dangers of air pollution and the imperative to protect forests cannot be overstated. The initiative is expected to dramatically improve the educational environment for children in Rwanda while simultaneously tackling regional environmental issues.

The Gas One Group has consistently prioritized safety and customer satisfaction since its founding in 1945. With an evolving focus on comprehensive energy solutions, including residential, automotive, and industrial gas, the company is ready to play a pivotal role in advancing energy solutions that contribute to both comfort and sustainability in people's lives.

In summary, as Jibu Gas One Limited takes confident steps forward with this project, it not only enhances education in Rwanda but also contributes significantly to sustainable development, aligning with global efforts to improve energy accessibility and environmental health. Through its ongoing commitment, the company is determined to bring about a brighter future for the communities it serves, exemplifying how energy innovation can drive positive change in society.
