PassiveLogic Welcomes Joel Harvill as Chief Financial Officer
PassiveLogic, the leader in physical AI for autonomous buildings, recently made a significant move by appointing Joel Harvill as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO). With an impressive track record of nearly twenty years in finance and capital markets, Harvill is set to play a pivotal role in advancing the company's strategic goals as it seeks to expand its market presence and enhance the adoption of its groundbreaking autonomy platform.
Joel Harvill comes with a remarkable background in private credit, corporate finance, treasury, and capital markets. Over his expansive career, he has successfully closed transactions worth over $15 billion. His history includes working with some of the most innovative and complex organizations globally, including Rivian, Waymo, and AIG Investments, among others. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Finance at Botrista after taking on high-level financial leadership roles at both Rivian and Waymo.
In his new role at PassiveLogic, Harvill will oversee the company’s financial strategy and operations, aligning them with its ambitious growth plans. His expertise spans critical areas such as fundraising, access to capital markets, financial planning and modeling, contract negotiation, and the structuring of resilient capital strategies aimed at supporting long-term growth.
Troy Harvey, the CEO and co-founder of PassiveLogic, expressed confidence in Harvill's capabilities. “Joel is a tremendous asset to our leadership team,” Harvey said. “He brings an exceptional blend of financial rigor, capital markets experience, and strategic leadership from companies transforming crucial sectors. As PassiveLogic continues to define the physical AI category, Joel’s expertise in building enduring financial foundations for transformative companies will be integral to our next growth phase.”
Harvill's career trajectory has focused on the intersection of finance and industrial transformation. He has supported enterprises that merge advanced technology with real-world infrastructures, which aligns perfectly with PassiveLogic's mission. During his interview, he emphasized that sustainable growth relies not only on a robust capital structure but also on strong management execution—insights honed from years of navigating both growth and market disruption.
“I am excited to join PassiveLogic at such a pivotal moment,” remarked Joel Harvill. “While much of the world debates what AI can do, PassiveLogic is already applying it in the physical world to optimize building operations, reduce energy consumption, enhance comfort, extend asset lifespans, and help lower emissions. This is a company with extraordinary technology, significant global impact, and the opportunity to set the standard for smart buildings. I am proud to be part of the team that is building that future.”
Buildings account for a significant share of global energy consumption, and PassiveLogic is at the forefront of a new approach to building autonomy that enables intelligent real-time control of physical systems. By combining global models with physics-based reasoning and autonomous control, PassiveLogic helps buildings operate more efficiently, sustainably, and intelligently without requiring entirely new infrastructures.
With Harvill’s addition to the executive team, PassiveLogic is deepening the leadership necessary to expand its technology, bolster its financial strategy, and accelerate its mission of transforming the built environment through autonomy.
