Promoting Lung Health: Free Screenings at Motorsport Events by Allergy & Asthma Network and Right2Breathe

Collaboration for Lung Health

In a significant initiative to improve lung health awareness, Allergy & Asthma Network has partnered with Right2Breathe to deliver essential lung health screenings and educational resources at various motorsport events across the United States throughout 2025. This collaboration is particularly important for the motorsport community, which often includes individuals prone to respiratory issues.

Event Highlights

The collaboration will feature a series of on-site screenings and educational programs at high-profile events, specifically the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) races. Fans attending these thrilling races will have the opportunity to visit the joint exhibit by the Allergy & Asthma Network and Right2Breathe where they can undergo free screenings for asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), enriching their understanding of these chronic conditions.

Schedule of Events

April 25-27: NHRA 4-Wide Nationals, Charlotte Motor Speedway, Charlotte, NC
June 27-29: Summit Racing NHRA Nationals, Summit Motorsports Park, Norwalk, Ohio
September 12-14: Reading NHRA Nationals, Maple Grove Raceway, Reading, PA
October 10-12: NHRA Texas Fall Nationals, Texas Motorplex, Ennis, Texas

During these events, a team of healthcare professionals, including certified asthma educators and respiratory therapists, will offer valuable resources and conduct health assessments. These specialists will also answer questions and provide referrals to asthma specialists, facilitating a better understanding of asthma and COPD management.

Virtual Support and Coaching

In addition to on-site screenings, individuals diagnosed with asthma will be invited to enroll in the Trusted Messengers program, which offers complimentary Virtual Asthma Coaching. This six-week program involves personalized online sessions conducted by certified asthma educators, helping participants enhance their asthma management skills. This innovative approach utilizes technology to deliver effective guidance to patients in the comfort of their homes, ultimately promoting better health outcomes.

Importance of Early Detection

Asthma and COPD are significant health concerns affecting millions. Currently, over 25 million individuals in the U.S. live with asthma, and 30 million suffer from COPD, which ranks among the leading causes of death. Unmanaged symptoms can lead to emergency visits, hospitalizations, and fatalities. Alarmingly, approximately 11 individuals die from asthma daily in the United States. Hence, the collaborative mission of Allergy & Asthma Network and Right2Breathe in promoting early detection and effective management is critical and potentially life-saving.

Voices of the Initiative

Joe Morrison, CEO and co-founder of Right2Breathe, expressed excitement over this collaboration, stating, “The NHRA fan base has a high prevalence of lung disease, often due to workplace exposures and higher smoking rates. This partnership allows us to meet these individuals where they are, enabling our outreach efforts to truly make a difference.”

Lynda Mitchell, CEO of Allergy & Asthma Network, emphasized the need for early diagnosis, noting, “If left untreated, asthma and COPD can lead to worsening conditions that pose serious health threats.” The organizations are dedicated to raising awareness and creating significant impacts within communities nationwide.

About the Organizations

Allergy & Asthma Network is a prominent nonprofit organization established in 1985, focusing on outreach, education, advocacy, and research for individuals battling allergies and asthma. They strive to empower people to take charge of their health while ensuring healthcare systems are inclusive and accessible.

On the other hand, Right2Breathe is dedicated to enhancing the lives of those with respiratory diseases. Through grassroots initiatives like this program, they provide critical health education and screenings at public events to foster awareness and support for patients living with chronic lung conditions.

This partnership is a vital step toward enhancing lung health awareness within the motorsport community and beyond, illustrating the importance of outreach and education in managing chronic respiratory conditions.
