Junpei Nagase is a special assistant professor at the University of Electro-Communications, focusing on the mathematical intricacies of deep learning. His research seeks to explain why deep learning performs exceptionally well through mathematical structures such as ReLU functions and skip connections. Navigating seamlessly between applied and statistical mathematics, he also explores fields beyond traditional mathematics, reflecting a multifaceted academic approach. Furthermore, Junpei served as a Special Research Fellow (DC2) at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
