Recharge Achieves Record Growth of 39% in 2024 and Expands into B2B Market
Recharge's Remarkable Growth and Strategic Expansion
Recharge, the European leader in digital prepaid product distribution, has announced its strongest financial year to date, with record results signaling substantial growth and strategic shifts toward the B2B sector. In 2024, the company achieved a remarkable 39% increase in total revenue, reaching €695 million. The net revenue also saw a significant boost of 32%, totaling €73.6 million, supported by the near doubling of EBTIDA to €8.1 million, resulting in a net profit of €7.5 million.
One notable achievement was the successful launch of Recharge's next-generation platform, designed to enhance partner integration and customer personalization. This upgraded infrastructure sets the groundwork for future innovations like embedded finance and white-label solutions. Additionally, Recharge is seeking to broaden its proposal by applying for a Payment Institution license with De Nederlandsche Bank, aiming to include financial services to consumers across Europe.
Günther Vogelpoel, CEO of Recharge, remarked, “2024 was a pivotal year for Recharge. We fortified our market position and laid the groundwork for future growth while delivering outstanding overall performance. The online demand for prepaid payment solutions is growing rapidly, and we are well-positioned to lead this transition.”
In a strategic move to boost its international growth, Recharge secured a €45 million acquisition facility with ABN AMRO at the beginning of 2025. Shortly after this financial achievement, the company acquired Giftcloud, a British platform that helps companies implement digital rewards for customer growth. This acquisition officially marks Recharge's entry into the B2B market, opening new avenues to serve brands and enterprises with digital solutions aimed at customer acquisition, loyalty, and employee engagement.
CFO Freddy Dijkman stated, “We've made a clear step toward higher profitability while continuing to invest for the long term. Our financial foundation is robust, allowing us to accelerate our M&A agenda thanks to the facility from ABN AMRO. The expansion into the B2B sector and regulated financial services enhances our resilience and versatility, creating a solid basis for further growth.”
Recharge now connects renowned brands with consumers in over 180 countries, leveraging a scalable global platform with more than 16,000 digital prepaid products. This flexible infrastructure allows the company to expand its services for global distribution of prepaid products, enabling partners across both B2C and B2B markets to access flexible and secure solutions.
In summary, Recharge's recent performances underscore its commitment to innovation and growth as it embraces new challenges in the digital payments landscape. With a strong base and ambitious plans ahead, Recharge is poised for continued success in the evolving global market.
