KDDI Expands 'povo Data Oasis' Service to Over 600 Private Stations in Kanto

KDDI Expands 'povo Data Oasis'

KDDI Corp., headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, along with KDDI Digital Life and the PASMO Association, recently announced an exciting service expansion for its customers. Starting from June 3, 2026, the 'povo Data Oasis' will be available at a total of 600 over private railway stations in the Kanto area. This will enhance commuter and travel convenience significantly.

The 'povo Data Oasis' service allows users to receive free data of up to 0.1GB (for 24 hours) at designated private railway stations where mobile PASMO can be used. This service aims to make it easier for regular commuters and travelers to obtain data at their frequently visited stations, supporting their communication needs while traveling or commuting.

How Does 'povo Data Oasis' Work?

Available at specific railway stations, users can easily access a dedicated website through their smartphones to collect free data. Each user can receive data once per day, up to 10 times a month (cumulatively 1GB). This is particularly beneficial for those relying on mobile internet during their daily commute or while using public transport.

The stations included under this initiative are part of both the original set launched on April 14, 2026, and this new expansion. The initial launch included the following:
  • - Keisei Electric Railway
  • - Sagami Railway
  • - Tokyo Metro

With the recent expansion, additional railway operators now included are:
  • - Izu-Hakone Railway
  • - Odakyu Electric Railway
  • - Kanto Railway
  • - Keio Electric Railway
  • - Chichibu Railway
  • - Tokyu Electric Railway
  • - Yurikamome
  • - Yokohama High-Speed Railway

All stations under the above operators are now considered Data Oasis locations.

Available Data Volume and Usage Frequency

The 'povo Data Oasis' provides users with 0.1GB of data valid for 24 hours, available once a day and a maximum of 10 times per month. This means users can attain a total of 1GB by frequenting these designated stations.

Who Can Use the Service?

The service is available to all 'povo2.0' users who have a compatible version of the application (1.64.0 or higher). Users with earlier app versions will need to update to access the service.

How to Utilize the Service

To obtain the free data, users must visit a designated station and access the special page on the povo2.0 app. On their first visit, they will need to log in with their povo account, and the location-based functionality will verify their presence at the station. After that, the 0.1GB of data will be added instantly.

Conclusion

The expansion of the 'povo Data Oasis' service by KDDI not only emphasizes the importance of enhancing user convenience but also demonstrates a commitment to meeting the modern digital needs of commuters. As the rollout continues through the fall of 2026, more stations will join the network, potentially providing even greater coverage.
