DYM's New Employee Benefit: Sending Bouquets to Family
In a heartfelt initiative, DYM Co., Ltd. (pronounced DYM), a company based in Shinagawa, Tokyo, has introduced a unique benefit designed to express gratitude to the families of their fresh graduates. This initiative, which coincides with employees' first three months of employment, allows new hires to send bouquets to their families utilizing the service "Bouquets with First Salary" provided by Hanakiyu Corporation.
Background and Purpose
For new employees, receiving their first salary marks a significant milestone in their professional journey. It's a moment filled with emotions, and it offers a perfect opportunity to acknowledge the support they've received from their families. However, many may struggle with how to convey their gratitude, often unsure what to say or what kind of gift to give.
Recognizing this, DYM has decided to bridge this communication gap. The company will cover half the cost of the bouquet, presenting a grateful gesture from both the employee and the organization to their families. Working alongside Hanakiyu Corporation, which has a nationwide delivery network, bouquets accompanied by heartfelt messages are delivered directly to employees' families.
Feedback from Employees Who Sent Bouquets
To assess the impact of this initiative, DYM conducted a survey among employees who participated. Remarkably, 96% reported their families seemed surprised or hadn't received flowers in a long time. When asked if they had given any gifts aside from flowers for their first salary, 56% replied affirmatively, while 44% had not. This shows that this initiative has created an avenue for many employees to express their gratitude. Furthermore, every new hire surveyed firmly believes that this benefit should continue in the future.
Sending flowers appears to be a special opportunity to communicate feelings that are often hard to express in words.
