Comic Relief US Hosts "Stand-Up for LA"
On March 3, 2025, an extraordinary event will take place at The Town Hall in New York City, as Comic Relief US organizes a comedy night entitled "Stand-Up for LA". This star-studded event is not just about laughter; it's a noble cause aimed at raising funds to support children and families affected by the catastrophic wildfires in Los Angeles.
The lineup features some of the biggest names in comedy, including Jon Stewart, John Oliver, Ramy Youssef, Chris Distefano, Desi Lydic, Hannah Berner, and Josh Johnson. They will deliver a night filled with humor while also rallying support for those in need. Not only that, but there will also be special appearances from other celebrity guests yet to be announced.
The event, sponsored by SHOWTIME/MTV Entertainment Studios and supported by Yahoo and ServiceNow, will kick off at 8 p.m. ET. Attendees will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing recovery efforts in real time, with funds directed toward Comic Relief US's grantee partners actively addressing the needs of underserved communities in Los Angeles.
As Michele Ganeless, CEO of Comic Relief US, noted, the devastation caused by the fires has left an indelible mark on many families. "This disaster has exacerbated crises such as homelessness and hunger, shifting the landscape for children’s education and overall socio-economic stability," Ganeless remarked. She emphasizes that rebuilding is a long-term endeavor that requires community commitment and support.
Furthermore, this evening of comedy is complemented by a separate comedy night hosted by The Second City, where the proceeds will also contribute to Comic Relief US’s efforts in disaster recovery. Ganeless expressed the larger mission behind "Stand-Up for LA", which is not just to provide immediate relief but to unite the community through laughter, transforming humor into action for those severely impacted by the fires.
Tickets for this impactful event are currently available through the Comic Relief website, and thanks to generous contributions from Ticketmaster and The Town Hall, attendees won’t have to worry about ticket fees.
For individuals unable to attend the event, donations can be made anytime at comicrelief.org/la to aid in the recovery and relief efforts.
