Major Programming Changes at FOX News Media Enhance Viewer Engagement Starting January 2025
In a strategic move aimed at responding to the evolving media landscape, FOX News Media has announced a wave of programming changes set to take effect beginning January 21, 2025. The changes, disclosed by CEO Suzanne Scott, include new timeslots and expanded show durations designed to enhance the viewer experience across both the FOX News Channel (FNC) and the FOX Business Network (FBN).
One of the most notable shifts will see Will Cain, currently the co-host of FOX Friends Weekend, take over the weekday 4 PM ET timeslot with his new program, 'The Will Cain Show.' Cain’s extensive background in broadcasting and law promises to bring insightful commentary to the already dynamic lineup. He stated, "It has been an honor to wake up with America these past four years, and I am thrilled to bring my expertise in news, law, entertainment, and business to offer our viewers a thoughtful analysis of daily headlines every weekday afternoon."
Charlie Hurt, a FOX News contributor, will fill Cain’s previous role as co-host of FOX Friends Weekend starting January 18, 2025. The weekend show format will also see a significant change as 'The Fox Report,' now anchored by Jon Scott, increases into a two-hour block from 3 PM to 5 PM on Saturdays and Sundays.
Moreover, 'The Big Weekend Show' will extend its airing time to two hours from 6 PM to 8 PM on weekends, enhancing its role as a forum for key discussions and analysis of the week’s events.
Adjustments within the FBN include Dagen McDowell joining 'The Big Money Show,' which will broaden its time slot to two hours from 12 PM to 2 PM on weekdays beginning January 27. This is in addition to McDowell’s regular role on 'The Bottom Line' airing at 6 PM ET. This change reflects FOX Business Network's commitment to delivering effective market news and analysis, with McDowell alongside co-hosts including Taylor Riggs and Jackie DeAngelis.
These changes are not just about reshuffling existing content but represent a holistic shift to ensure that FOX News Media continues to address the interests of its viewers. Scott emphasized this point, stating, "We are always looking to innovate our programming lineup to meet the needs of our viewers, and we are confident that this new lineup positions FOX News Media for the future."
Underpinning these changes is FOX News Media’s impressive track record. As the number one network in cable television and the most-watched news channel for over 22 consecutive years, FNC has consistently drawn a large viewer base. FBN has also established itself as the leading business channel on cable, further affirming the efficacy of FOX's programming strategy.
With its diverse portfolio encompassing FOX News Digital, FOX News Audio, and the widely popular FOX Nation, FOX News Media reaches nearly 200 million distinct viewers each month.
In reflecting on his past three years with FOX Friends Weekend, Cain noted the importance of staying connected with the viewing audience. His program aims not only to report the news but to offer context, analysis, and interaction with viewers, making it a more engaging experience for all.
As viewers eagerly await these updates, the programming shifts promise a future brimming with fresh perspectives and enriched content that captures the essence of today’s dynamic news environment. With these strategic enhancements, FOX News Media is poised for another compelling year ahead as it continues to shape the landscape of cable news and business reporting.
