Experience Local High School Life in New Zealand



Aoba-BBT Global, a group company of Aoba-BBT based in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has announced the launch of its first-ever short-term overseas study program aimed at high school students. Dubbed “Open the Future! High School Local Experience Study Abroad Program,” this initiative is designed to broaden the educational horizons of participants, enabling them to immerse themselves in the vibrant culture of New Zealand.

Program Overview


Running from July 14 to September 19, 2025, this four-week program allows students to attend local high schools in New Zealand, where they will engage in actual classes alongside New Zealand peers. This is not merely a language school; it focuses on real-world class participation to enhance language skills and foster intercultural understanding and global perspectives.

Key Features of the Program


  • - Local School Attendance: Participants will enroll in local high schools, allowing them to experience the New Zealand education system firsthand alongside local students.
  • - Language Skill Improvement: By using English in everyday situations, students will quickly boost their practical language abilities.
  • - International Exchange: This program offers an invaluable chance for students to communicate with local peers and develop global friendships.
  • - Diverse Subject Selection: Students can choose from a variety of subjects, encompassing both sciences and humanities, available at local schools.
  • - Comfortable Homestay Arrangements: Students will stay with local families, ensuring robust support for living arrangements.

  • - Target Audience: High school students in grades 10 to 12, who are in good health.
  • - Duration: 4 weeks (from July 14 to September 19, 2025), with flexibility to adjust depending on preferences.
  • - Accommodation: Students will stay with homestay families organized by the local schools.

- Palmerston North Boys’ High School
- Palmerston North Girls’ High School
- Otaki College
- Whanganui High School
- Paraparaumu College
- Napier Girls’ High School
Note: The specific school assignments may vary based on availability at the time of application.
  • - Guidance: Participants will travel individually to and from the program location, with transportation provided to and from the local airport.
  • - Language Requirements: There are no strict language prerequisites, but a minimum of an Eiken Grade 2 level is preferred.

Online Information Sessions


Aoba-BBT Global will conduct online information sessions for parents and students on the following dates:
  • - May 23 (Friday) at 6:00 PM
  • - May 28 (Wednesday) at 6:00 PM
These will be hosted on Zoom, lasting about 30 minutes. Participants are welcome to join with their microphones and cameras off, as well as enter or exit as needed.
