An Exciting New Exhibition Awaits at Yumeginga



Starting on March 14, 2026, the Saga Prefectural Space Science Museum, known as Yumeginga, will open its highly anticipated annual spring exhibition named "Bead Rolling x Game Exhibition". This year marks the 14th edition of this popular event, featuring a captivating collection of 20 bead rolling installations inspired by games. These unique creations, crafted by the dedicated staff of the museum, invite visitors to "see, touch, and feel" the magic of bead rolling. With a playful twist, these installations are designed to ignite the excitement and curiosity of every visitor.

Large-Scale Bead Rolling Installations

In line with last year's success, this exhibition will introduce a new 20-meter-long bead rolling installation, which promises to astonish attendees. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the mechanics that set the beads in motion, sparking their curiosity and encouraging them to engage with the exhibit.

This year’s theme centers around games, and clever designs will lead participants to astonishing goals upon completing various challenges. The immersive experience of seeing the little beads navigate through the intricate pathways is a sight sure to mesmerize both young and old alike.

Student Contributions and Innovations

In addition to staff-made installations, the exhibition will showcase bead rolling devices crafted by high school students from four schools across Saga Prefecture, including Kashima High School, Saga Nishihigh School, Takeo High School, and Tosu High School. This initiative is known as "Bead Rolling High School", where students challenge themselves to design unique installations using familiar materials. For the first time, projects from graduates of the Saga Prefectural Institute of Technology will also be displayed, further emphasizing the creative spirit of the region. This exhibition serves to inspire curiosity and innovation in attendees, fueling their desire to create.

Related Events to Enhance Your Experience

The excitement continues with related events such as the Springin' Digital Bead Rolling Contest, accepting submissions until March 29, 2026. Participants can create their own digital bead rolling installations using the trending programming app Springin'. The top entries will be recognized with awards, including the prestigious Grand Prize and several excellence awards, with winning submissions scheduled to be displayed starting in early April. Additionally, there will be a chance for visitors to create their own digital bead rolling devices during our Springin' Experience Sessions on March 21 and 22. Suitable for families with children over elementary school age, attendees can participate on a first-come, first-served basis without prior registration. Spend 30 minutes diving into the digital world of bead rolling!

Glow-in-the-Dark Bead Rolling Fun

Another highlight of this exhibition will be Have Some Fun!'s "Glowing Bead Rolling" activity, allowing children to roll glowing beads in a darkened space. This unique experience is sure to delight kids, providing an exciting twist to the event. The glow-in-the-dark experience runs from April 11 to 19, with the museum closed on April 13.
