Leadership Changes at ChoiceOne: New Chairman and Vice Chairwoman Appointed

Leadership Changes at ChoiceOne Financial Services

In a recent announcement, ChoiceOne Financial Services, Inc. made waves within the financial sector by revealing significant leadership changes in its organization. Jack G. Hendon, who has served honorably as the Chairman of the Boards since December 2021, is set to retire effective July 5, 2025, following the company’s mandatory retirement policy for directors. This news has prompted a shift in the leadership structure within the organization, reflecting both a respect for longstanding contributions and a commitment to future growth.

Hendon’s retirement marks the end of a notable chapter for the company as he has been deeply involved with ChoiceOne since August 2013, when he initially joined the boards of both ChoiceOne Financial Services and ChoiceOne Bank. His expertise in accounting and finance has been pivotal in steering the organization through various challenges over the years.

Kelly Potes, the CEO of ChoiceOne, expressed heartfelt appreciation for Hendon's services, stating, "We will miss Jack's keen vision and guidance, and we wish him, and his wife Cindy, the best in retirement." Hendon’s contributions extend beyond ChoiceOne; he has held influential roles in various organizations including the Fremont Area Community Foundation and Spectrum Gerber Hospital Foundation. His academic credentials include a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, reflecting his strong foundation in finance.

In the wake of Hendon's departure, the boards announced the appointment of Gregory A. McConnell as the new Chairman and Roxanne M. Page as Vice Chairwoman, both effective from the same date of July 5, 2025. McConnell brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having joined the boards in October 2019, following the merger of County Bank Corp. into ChoiceOne. His business savvy stems from a successful career as a State Farm Insurance Agent and his tenure on the boards of various community organizations which enhances his strategic capabilities. McConnell holds a bachelor’s degree from Ferris State University and has a strong affiliation with community development.

Moreover, Roxanne M. Page, a director since August 2010, has previously served as the Vice Chairwoman for ChoiceOne Bank and brings substantial experience as a Certified Public Accountant at Doeren Mayhew. Page's financial insight has significantly contributed to the boards’ discussions and decisions, making her an ideal candidate for the Vice Chair position. Both McConnell and Page's appointments signal a new era for ChoiceOne, balancing continuity with a vision for the future.
