The Africa × Itabashi Network: A Unique Opportunity
On August 23, 2025, the Itabashi District Committee of the Tokyo Junior Chamber will host a significant international business event titled "Africa × Itabashi Network" at the Highlife Plaza Itabashi. This event aims to address the challenges faced by Japanese companies, particularly the lack of impetus among management to consider and execute globalization strategies.
With the increasing need for global competitiveness, the focus is set on collaborating with talent from Africa to bridge the gap between Japanese SMEs and African students studying in Japan. This unique initiative seeks to foster multicultural coexistence and explore new business opportunities that this collaboration can generate.
Event Highlights
The event will feature a structured agenda that includes a one-day internship report presentation from participating companies and students who attended the internship program. These presentations will cover their experiences and outlook on future ventures. Additionally, a keynote speech will be delivered by Yohei Ishida, Executive Director of Taiyo Yuka Co., a company that has successfully expanded into Africa, providing insights on effective strategies and benefits of doing business in the African market.
Moreover, the Itabashi District Committee has members hailing from Burkina Faso who contribute to strengthening the network between Itabashi and Africa. Cultural showcases and exhibition booths in collaboration with various embassies are also planned for the day, enriching the event with diverse perspectives and experiences.
Target Audience
This event is open to two specific groups: 1) SMEs interested in penetrating the African market or hiring foreign students, with an initial capacity of 50 companies; and 2) Students eager to connect with various businesses and learn skills that can be utilized back in their home countries.

Entry is free of charge, making this an accessible opportunity for all interested parties. For SMEs looking to welcome interns, messages can be sent via the Itabashi District Committee's Facebook page.
