Frustrated by the inability to attend live events over the last few years? Well, here’s some exhilarating news!
Fuji TV is set to stream the much-anticipated
Dance Stadium Summer National Tournament live via their service,
FOD Premium. This exciting event, which highlights the incredible talent of high school dancers throughout Japan, begins on
July 24 and culminates in a nationwide final on
September 7.
The
Dance Stadium is Japan's largest competition for high school dance clubs, providing students with an unparalleled opportunity to showcase their skills. This summer event is just one part of a year-long schedule that includes winter battle tournaments and spring rookie competitions. Teams of varying sizes will compete across two categories: the Small Class (2-12 members) and the Big Class (13-40 members). With over 600 teams participating, the level of competition will be fiercer than ever!
Competition Structure
The journey to the national title begins with regional qualifiers held across
10 locations in Japan. Competing teams will be evaluated on a range of criteria, including technical skill, choreography, visual performance, and musical interpretation. Only the most outstanding teams, those that evoke emotional responses from their audiences, will advance to the
national semifinals. From there, just eight teams in each category will secure a coveted spot in the finals, where they’ll compete for the title of
Japan's best. The ultimate prize includes the prestigious
Minister of Education Award, reserved for the champion team, embodying the pinnacle of high school dance achievement in Japan.
These high school dancers have dedicated their youth and passion to perfecting a performance that lasts just
two and a half minutes. The intensity and bond among these performers will surely echo through every routine, creating a joyous atmosphere that’s thrilling to witness.
