Upcoming 14th Children's Future Conference to Empower Youth Voices in Tokyo

14th Children's Future Conference Announcement

The 14th session of the Children's Future Conference is officially scheduled for July 3, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. This significant event will take place in the large conference room on the 7th floor of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, where various stakeholders will gather to discuss critical issues regarding children's involvement in society.

Objectives

The primary theme of this conference is to create opportunities for children to voice their opinions as active members of society. The agenda includes:
1. Opening remarks from the Governor.
2. Presentations by key speakers.
3. A session for exchanging ideas.

Participants include committee members, and a full list of attendees is available in the attached document. This gathering signifies an essential step in the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's initiative to prioritize children's perspectives in policymaking.

Media Coverage

The conference will be open to the media, and no advance registration is required for those who wish to cover the event. However, due to space restrictions, guidelines for media presence are as follows:
  • - Only one filming device per broadcasting company is permitted.
  • - One representative from each publication may use a still camera.

Media representatives should report to the reception area on the 7th floor from 10:20 AM to 10:40 AM on the day of the event (see attached document for details). Media positions will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, and all attendees must wear their organization's identification at all times.

Live coverage of the conference will be streamed online via the Children's Policy Coordination Office's official website, ensuring broader access to the discussions held.

Please be advised that individual interviews with conference attendees are not allowed, and the media is restricted to the designated area in the large conference room. There will be no informal press opportunities with the Governor following the event.

All media personnel must comply with staff instructions throughout the conference. Non-compliance may result in the denial of entry.

Expectations

Attendees are requested to maintain a quiet atmosphere during the proceedings. Non-reporting activities should be avoided. Relevant materials from the conference will be published on the Children's Policy Coordination Office's website following its conclusion.

This event is part of the broader initiative to promote the 2050 Tokyo Strategy, particularly focusing on advancing policies through children's perspectives, aligning with the goal of fostering inclusivity and empowerment for the youth of Tokyo. The thematic emphasis on children's voices marks a progressive approach in local governance, demonstrating a commitment to integrating their insights and opinions into future policies. Through these conferences, the municipal government aims to engage more youth in decision-making processes and ensure their concerns are not only heard but also considered in shaping societal norms and policies.

Looking forward, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government invites all stakeholders and members of the community to participate in this endeavor, laying the foundation for a more inclusive future.
