Health-focused company Tanita Corporation, headquartered in Itabashi, Tokyo, has announced a special collaboration with the popular anime series "Girls & Panzer." Starting from March 6, fans can pre-order a range of 98 unique pedometers that feature designs inspired by the characters from the original series, movies, and OVAs. Priced at 3,520 yen (tax included), these stylish pedometers incorporate a 3D sensor that tracks steps accurately, making them perfect for both exercise and anime enthusiasts.
The pre-orders are now open through the Tanita online shop (https://shop.tanita.co.jp/) and will close on April 3 at 1 PM. Customers can expect their items to ship in late June. Additionally, during the "Oarai Spring Festival - Kairaku Festa 2026 Girls & Panzer Mini Mini Hobby Show," scheduled for March 14-15 in Oarai, Ibaraki Prefecture, nine exclusive models will be available for early purchase. These models prominently feature characters such as Miho Nishizumi, Darjeeling, Kei, Anchovy, Katyusha, Maho Nishizumi, Nishigunyo, Mika, and Airi Shimada.
"Girls & Panzer" is an original anime series that first aired in 2012. It follows a group of high school girls as they strive to save their school from closure by mastering the art of tank warfare—a concept that combines the unexpected duo of teenagers and tanks. Throughout its journey, the series has captivated audiences with its realistic depictions of tank battles, diverse character personalities, and a strong sense of camaraderie that resonates with viewers. The picturesque setting of Oarai serves as the backdrop for the series, and it has led many fans to visit the town, embarking on a pilgrimage to experience the landscapes showcased in the anime.
The new line of 98 pedometers is designed to align with the themes of both health and fan culture. Each pedometer reflects the colors of the schools represented in the series, complete with logos and symbols to create a sense of unity when the characters are lined up together. This thoughtfully designed product allows fans to engage with the world of "Girls & Panzer" while encouraging them to maintain an active lifestyle. Carrying the pedometer around the neck with a strap or storing it in a bag or pocket will still allow accurate step counting.
In line with Tanita's philosophy, the company believes that creating healthy habits involves making the experience enjoyable and engaging. By collaborating with popular intellectual properties in the realms of anime and gaming, Tanita seeks to make health monitoring both fun and accessible. As they move forward, Tanita aims to expand the touchpoints of their products and services, fostering habits that revolve around measuring health and well-being.
