Asian Hall of Fame Heritage Gala Celebrates Philanthropy and Diversity in 2026

On May 1, 2026, the Asian Hall of Fame will kick off the AANHPI Heritage Month with its vibrant Heritage Gala at the prestigious Biltmore Los Angeles. This much-anticipated event will not only celebrate the achievements of the past but also pave the way for future generations through its philanthropic initiatives. The gala has become a staple in Los Angeles, filling the venue to capacity as attendees come together to recognize some of the most impactful individuals in the Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities.

The highlight of the evening will be the introduction of the Class of 2026 Inductees, chosen for their significant contributions to society. Among those honored will be Melinda Rogers, the Chairwoman of the Asian Hall of Fame Board of Governors, who will be awarded the title of Woman of the Year, a recognition presented by her brother, Sir William Rogers. The family’s Union Rock Company is known for its dominance in the sand, rock, and gravel industry and has played a crucial role in various infrastructure projects, contributing to the development of key California landmarks.

Rogers, who took over leadership last year, has made substantial strides in enlarging the reach of the Asian Hall of Fame by introducing the Women Investing In Nonprofits (WIN) guild, launching AHOF initiatives in Honolulu, and advancing plans for a future Cultural Center in the Pasadena/San Gabriel Valley area.

Moreover, the gala will feature esteemed author Loida Nicolas Lewis, an inductee from 2007, who will share anecdotes from her memoir, "Why Should Guys Have All the Fun? An Asian American Story of Love, Marriage, Motherhood, and Running a Billion Dollar Empire." This insightful narrative highlights the remarkable journey of her late husband, Reginald Lewis, recognized as America’s first Black billionaire and founder of TLC Beatrice.

This year’s gala introduces a brand-new feature: the Heritage Costumes Fashion Show. Sponsored by Meridien Vacation Homes, this event showcases the talents of both professional models and emerging artists, cultivating appreciation for cultural diversity and artistry. Guests can look forward to a dazzling performance by Grammy Voting Member, Maki Mae, who will present pieces from her forthcoming album, promising an evening filled with creativity and inspiration.

In addition, the gala will incorporate an exciting raffle segment, with prizes including a signed guitar by Taylor Swift and an exquisite 18-carat gold ring donated by jeweler Vartan Kazanjian. The Night Market doors will open at 4:30 PM, featuring curated gifts and a St. John trunk show, ensuring guests have plenty of activities to engage in before the official dinner at 6 PM. To enhance the evening, all attendees will receive complimentary raffle tickets, a souvenir stamp book, and an autographed copy of Lewis's memoir.

For attire, the gala embraces elegance, encouraging black-tie or formal wear, and guests may also choose to don traditional or heritage dress to celebrate their cultural backgrounds. Parking options include valet services for $35 or self-parking at $25 with validation, making it convenient for attendees.

The Asian Hall of Fame, established in 2004, has dedicated itself to enhancing awareness and recognition of Asian and Indigenous legacies. Notable inductees include media pioneer Connie Chung and comedian Margaret Cho. In recent years, the organization has made impressive contributions, awarding $3.7 million in grants and partnering with 210 organizations to create job opportunities for over 1,870 individuals. The gala serves as both a celebration of heritage and a fundraiser for essential scholarships aimed at empowering young girls and women in technology, entertainment, science, and sports.
