HASC Louisiana Opens New Facility in Gonzales to Enhance Workforce Safety Training

HASC Louisiana Expands in Gonzales: A Commitment to Safety

On April 7, 2025, the Health and Safety Council (HASC) made a significant stride towards enhancing safety training in Louisiana with the opening of its new facility in Gonzales. This expansion not only symbolizes HASC’s dedication to workforce safety but also aims to meet the increasing demand for industry-leading safety training programs within the Capital Region. Local industries have shown a significant need for such essential training, prompting this strategic move.

HASC Louisiana, a non-profit organization that has been integral to the state's workforce since 1955, offers comprehensive training including the much-acclaimed Safety Essentials program. With the introduction of the Gonzales facility, HASC reaffirms its commitment to the safety, skill, and well-being of workers in the industrial sector. This extension of services is aligned with HASC's longstanding mission to support and innovate within the community, ensuring that local industries are equipped with the necessary resources for a safe working environment.

Sarita Scheufens, President of HASC Louisiana, emphasized that this facility is more than just a new location; it represents a solid commitment to the people of Louisiana. She remarked, "This region boasts a flourishing industrial workforce, and we are honored to contribute by providing the requisite training and support vital for worker safety. Our legacy is deeply rooted in service, and we plan to continue that tradition in Gonzales."

The Gonzales facility is expected to facilitate a comprehensive training experience tailored for local contractors and businesses, which have expressed an urgent need for practical safety solutions tailored to their specific operational demands. Under the leadership of Tyler Traweek, the newly appointed Regional Director of Operations, the center is poised to deliver high-quality, adaptive training that meets the evolving needs of the workforce.

In line with its growth strategy, HASC Louisiana plans a grand opening event on April 15, 2025, featuring facility tours, live entertainment, and networking opportunities for community and industry leaders. This event will not only showcase the new facility but also reinforce HASC’s role as a pioneering force in workforce safety in Louisiana.

Located at 3005 Cabela's Parkway, Suite F, the new facility will operate from Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM. It promises flexible training hours, including weekend options, to accommodate workers and businesses, thereby ensuring everyone can access top-notch safety training solutions.

HASC Louisiana Gonzales will utilize the Safety Essentials program, an accredited initiative recognized by the Petrochemical, Refining, and Energy Safety Council Association (PRESCA™). This certification enhances the credibility of the training provided, assuring businesses that their workforce is receiving reliable and effective safety education.

Russell Klinegardner, President and CEO of HASC, remarked on the necessity of this expansion, saying, "The industrial community in Louisiana has made its needs abundantly clear—we are dedicated to meeting these needs by making essential safety training available in Gonzales. It's a significant step towards fostering a safer work culture that benefits everyone involved."

As HASC Louisiana continues to evolve, its focus remains firmly on supporting the workforce through innovative training solutions, ensuring that safety is an ingrained practice in every working environment.
