Lush Takes a Stand at Climate Week NYC with Unique Activations to Combat Climate Change
Lush's Climate Activations at NYC's Climate Week
Lush Cosmetics, widely recognized for its ethical stance and innovative beauty products, is making waves during Climate Week NYC. On September 26, Lush will set up a distinctive pop-up at the High Line, aiming to engage the public about the pressing climate crisis. This initiative coincides with Climate Week NYC and aligns with Lush's ongoing campaign, The People's Climate Agreement.
The outdoor space, designed in collaboration with Oilwell, a satirical meditation app created by climate advocates, will act as a serene haven where visitors can engage in guided meditations, tackling themes like mindfulness amid chaos with sessions aptly named Drowning Mindfully and Smog Breathing Exercise. Participants are invited to bring their devices and immerse themselves in these unique meditation experiences.
As a reward for their participation, attendees will receive a Lush product bag complete with a card that educates them on the climate crisis and encourages them to pledge their commitment towards combating global warming. Lush hopes this memorable experience will spark dialogue about climate action and reinforce the brand's commitment to climate advocacy.
The activation is not just a one-time event; it reflects Lush’s broader engagement efforts throughout North America. From September 21 to October 2, this commitment will extend to over 250 Lush shops across the U.S. and Canada, all promoting the messaging behind the People's Climate Agreement campaign. The overarching goal is to empower customers to build grassroots momentum for climate solutions, ultimately ensuring a livable planet for future generations.
Moreover, as part of this initiative, Lush will unveil a special limited-edition product called It's Getting Hot In Here Body Balm, with 75% of the proceeds directed toward organizations working towards a fossil-free future.
Seth Laxman, Lush's Advocacy and Activism Campaigner, highlighted the brand's long-standing commitment to environmental issues, stating, "Campaigning on climate change is part of our core values. We aim to leave the world lusher than we found it, focusing on Earth, People, and Animals alike. Our Climate And Nature To Do List outlines actionable steps we can take toward meaningful contributions to our environment. We believe experiences like this can kindle constructive discussions around solutions to climate-related challenges."
Lush's commitment to environmental activism isn't just confined to specific campaigns; since its inception in 1995, the company has championed innovation and ethical practices. Some 21.2 million bath bombs were hand-pressed and sold last year alone, showcasing both Lush's creativity and commitment to sustainability.
Operating in 50 countries with more than 850 shops worldwide, Lush aims to provide solutions for every beauty need while promoting its environmental values. In August 2024, the brand achieved a remarkable milestone by reaching $100 million in charitable contributions since 2007, supporting grassroots organizations and activists striving to save the planet.
