Asia's Largest Transparent Indoor Screen Shines in Thailand

Recently, a groundbreaking project for a transparent indoor screen was completed at Central World in Bangkok, Thailand. Developed by Unilumin, a global leader in LED technology, this installation spans an impressive 2,400 square meters, making it the largest of its kind in Asia. This project not only sets a new precedent for digital transformations in commercial centers across Southeast Asia but also enhances the visitor experience significantly.

The installation features Unilumin's UVF series transparent screen with a 10mm pixel pitch. Boasting a brightness of 8,000 cd/m² and a transparency exceeding 70%, this screen weighs just 8 kg/m². It has a high refresh rate of 7,680 Hz and supports 16-bit grayscale processing, producing smooth visuals and natural colors even in bright surroundings.

To accommodate the building's complex architecture, the Unilumin team devised several installation solutions, including frame-supported facades and point-supported curtain walls. This innovative approach not only showcased the flexibility of the product but also ensured seamless integration with the building's design, featuring a striking black front and a white back.

Initiated in 2023, this project underwent three years of prototyping, testing, and optimization. From the initial design phase through to installation measurements, Unilumin maintained close communication with their client, which proved essential to achieving a display of remarkable quality, stable performance, and efficient thermal management.

During the delivery phase, the research, development, and production teams swiftly adapted to changing requirements, carried out upgrades, and executed partial deliveries while providing on-site technical support. Situated adjacent to the famous Erawan Shrine, Central World attracts an average daily footfall of over 400,000 visitors, making it an ideal location for showcasing technological advancements.

This transparent screen serves as a visual centerpiece for the shopping district, highlighting both the technological allure and commercial atmosphere of the complex. It has also become a popular Instagram spot for tourists, enhancing the site’s appeal.
