Launch of the Global Growth Programme

The West Midlands Growth Company (WMGC) is set to announce its anticipated Global Growth Programme for 2025 during the extraordinary London Tech Week, taking place on June 11, 2025. This marks the third consecutive year that this initiative has been unveiled at this high-profile tech event and reflects the ongoing commitment of WMGC to bolster the innovation landscape in the UK.

A Proven Track Record

Since its inception, the programme has achieved remarkable results. The previous year’s initiative supported 17 high-growth companies, both domestic and international, leading to the creation of over 300 job opportunities in the vibrant West Midlands region. This success story underscores the essential role that such programmes play in fostering entrepreneurship and driving economic growth.

What to Expect This Year

At this year’s event, the WMGC will share details about the Global Growth Programme, which offers a unique chance for tech companies looking to establish or expand their presence in the UK market. Fifteen slots are available for eligible firms for the 2025/26 period. Potential participants will have the opportunity to engage with leading industry experts and gain insights into navigating the complexities of entering the UK market.

The programme includes nine months of fully funded support, tailored specifically for international tech companies keen to make their mark in the region. Key offerings include:

  • - Access to Premium Workspaces: Participants will receive sponsored workspace in six innovation hubs across Birmingham, Wolverhampton, and Coventry.
  • - Specialized Support Packages: Companies can choose from over 20 sector-focused support packages covering critical areas such as health tech, clean tech, digital technology, and future mobility.
  • - Market Access Optimisation: By facilitating access to business networks, R&D resources, and innovation centers, the programme is designed to expedite the market entry process.
  • - Comprehensive Personalised Assistance: WMGC will guide international companies through all steps of their UK integration, including visa processes and accommodation needs.

Partnering for Success

The programme is backed by a diverse array of innovation-focused partners, including Innovate UK and Connected Places Catapult, ensuring that participants have access to the necessary resources and networks for success. For instance, as part of the DIATOMIC Innovation Accelerator Programme, Midlands Innovation will focus on attracting R&D investment into the region.

Companies like OPT/NET, which specializes in AI solutions for critical infrastructure, have already shared positive experiences from their participation in the previous year's programme, highlighting how it helped them establish strong market positions.

Neil Rami, CEO of WMGC, is enthusiastic about this year's prospects: “There has never been a more exciting time to be part of the West Midlands business ecosystem. Its burgeoning tech sector, exceptional talent pool, and state-of-the-art R&D infrastructure present an ideal environment for innovative international companies aiming for expansion.”
