LG Innotek's Latest Innovations Unveiled at Germany's DVN Lighting Workshop
LG Innotek's Innovative Showcase at the DVN Lighting Workshop
LG Innotek, under the leadership of CEO Moon Hyuksoo, has made waves in the automotive sector by showcasing its latest advancements in lighting technology at the 34th DVN Lighting Workshop in Munich, Germany. This event, taking place on February 19 and 20, gathers experts and leaders within the automotive lighting industry, serving as an influential platform for discussions surrounding key industry challenges and technological innovations.
The workshop's theme this year centers around sustainability, accelerated development, and software integration in automotive design. As part of this initiative, LG Innotek is set to present its cutting-edge product, Nexlide, during a session focused on innovative lighting sources. Nexlide is a flexible stereoscopic automotive lighting module that integrates advanced technologies aimed at enhancing vehicle aesthetics and functionality.
Pioneering Technologies
LG Innotek proudly holds over 700 patents related to surface light sources, which are crucial for developing thinner automotive lighting solutions without compromising brightness or even illumination. This advancement allows for optimized design flexibility for automotive manufacturers. The showcase will highlight several models within the Nexlide product range, which have various applications for both front and rear vehicle lighting.
Among the notable products is Nexlide A, designed as a rear lamp module that minimizes thickness while providing bright, uniform light through LG's proprietary micro-optical technology. Furthermore, the Nexlide A+ stands out as the first surface light source module for front-end lighting applications, which recently garnered an Innovation Award at CES 2025.
Additionally, attendees will see Nexlide C+, utilizing 3D lighting technology to deliver stunning 3D visuals, and Nexlide M, which finds versatile applications on both ends of a vehicle, with an increasing number of orders reflecting its rising popularity.
Next-Generation Solutions
LG Innotek will also introduce two new exciting products: Nexlide Edge, a slimmer variant achieved by substituting traditional LED packages with advanced LED chips, and Nexlide Vision, which merges Pixel Lighting and Smart Film technologies to offer unique text and animation effects. This innovative product will be available for hands-on demonstrations, allowing visitors to write messages on a digital pad connected to the automotive lights, instantly displaying their text on the product.
The potential for Nexlide Vision extends beyond merely aesthetic appeal. An LG Innotek representative highlighted its capabilities in improving vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication, suggesting that in the event of a sudden stop, vehicles can provide more detailed visual cues to surrounding traffic, enhancing overall road safety by indicating drivers’ situations and requested assistance.
Following the Lighting Workshop, LG Innotek has plans to conduct a roadshow targeting major European OEMs, aiming to bolster its position within the European automotive lighting market. With aspirations to grow its automotive lighting business into a billion-dollar enterprise by 2030, LG Innotek is positioned to establish itself as a trusted technology partner not only in North America but across Europe and Japan as well.
Byaengkuk Yoo, head of LG Innotek's Automotive Components Business Unit, emphasized the company's commitment to delivering innovative automotive lighting solutions that offer superior value to customers. He stated, "We will continually pioneer advancements in automotive lighting technologies, positioning LG Innotek at the forefront of future mobility developments."
In this era of rapid innovation and heightened expectations from automotive lighting, LG Innotek's efforts at the DVN Lighting Workshop signify a pivotal moment in establishing new industry standards and enhancing vehicle design and safety through groundbreaking technology.
