Global Consortium Led by Nexus Core Systems to Establish Advanced AI Factory in Morocco

A Groundbreaking AI Initiative in Morocco

In a significant move for technological advancement, a worldwide investment consortium, led by Nexus Core Systems, has announced plans to establish an advanced artificial intelligence (AI) factory in Morocco. This ambitious project is supported by prominent entities such as Lloyds Capital, NAVER Cloud, and Maroc Telecom, along with a commitment to utilizing up to 500 megawatts of renewable energy. The aim is to revolutionize the Moroccan industry and assist in its transition into the era of AI and robotics.

Strategic Location and Infrastructure

Situated just 15 kilometers from Europe and equipped with multiple undersea fiber optic connections, Morocco presents a unique geographical advantage. This positioning enables the provision of sovereign computing capabilities to the European market. NAVER Cloud, in collaboration with Nexus Core Systems and Lloyds Capital, is set to deploy a platform that guarantees secure, sovereign access to AI computing resources for government and enterprise clients. The proposed data centers will utilize modular infrastructure technology, which allows for rapid deployment, scalable expansion, and efficient maintenance, thus minimizing on-site construction risks.

The first phase of this project will commence in the first quarter of 2026, featuring over 40 megawatts of next-generation AI accelerators designed for large-scale model training. Once operational, this facility is expected to become one of the largest enterprise AI supercomputers in the region.

Commitment to Sustainability

All operations will be sustainably powered by renewable energy sources as part of a strategic partnership with TAQA Morocco. This partnership ensures long-term, cost-effective, and environmentally-friendly operations. The emphasis on renewable energy underscores the project's commitment to sustainability in an age where climate concerns are paramount.

NAVER’s integration with Nexus Core Systems will bring its proprietary hyperscale cloud platform, which includes the CLOVA AI suite, a zero-trust security architecture, and region-specific data residency controls. This integration directly addresses the stringent data sovereignty and compliance requirements prevalent in the EMEA region.

Driving National AI Adoption

Maroc Telecom will act as the commercial partner for Morocco, spearheading distribution efforts across both corporate and governmental channels. The company plans to leverage a white-label platform powered by Nexus infrastructure and NAVER’s AI technology, facilitating national AI adoption and accelerating digital transformation initiatives throughout the country.

Chae Seon Ju, president of strategic operations at NAVER, commented, “This collaboration marks a significant turning point for NAVER’s cloud and AI technologies as we extend beyond Japan, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East to reach the European market. We will continue enhancing our capabilities to ensure NAVER maintains its technological leadership and plays a vital role in the rapidly evolving global AI value chain.”

Christopher Yoshida, CEO of Nexus Core Systems, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Investing in cutting-edge AI infrastructure is essential to fast-tracking AI development and adoption across the EMEA region. We believe this initiative will yield significant benefits, enabling skill enhancements, fostering new collaborations, and strengthening the broader AI ecosystem, thereby placing Morocco on the global sovereign AI map.”

Future-Ready AI Services

This partnership will lay the groundwork for the next generation of AI-based services and innovations, spanning core model training, multimodal inference, robotics, autonomous learning, and high-performance data processing. By merging Nexus's infrastructure with NAVER's AI platform capabilities, the system will support the deployment of advanced AI models, enhancing performance, driving efficiency, and unlocking transformative use cases across the region.

The system architecture adheres to globally recognized AI infrastructure standards, developed in collaboration with leading ecosystem partners, paving the way for Morocco’s future in artificial intelligence.
