Central Charter School Celebrates Completion of New 100,000 Square Foot Facility

Central Charter School's New State-of-the-Art Facility

Central Charter School has officially moved into a remarkable 100,000 square-foot facility, marking a significant transformation in the educational landscape for its students. After years of anticipation, the school is set to hold its Grand Opening ceremony on February 1 at 11 a.m., inviting the community to celebrate this milestone event.

The new three-story building, located on North State Road 7 in Fort Lauderdale, accommodates more than 1,600 students, serving grades from Kindergarten through Grade 8. This transition to a modern campus is not just a change of scenery; it represents an upgrade in educational facilities that were previously dispersed across three different buildings that had been repurposed from retail and office spaces.

The new campus boasts a brand-new cafeteria, extensive library, music room, and an indoor gymnasium, greatly enhancing the learning environment. Students and teachers now have access to state-of-the-art resources and spaces that promote creativity and learning unlike ever before. Central Charter School, founded in 1997, aims to meet the academic and social needs of students primarily hailing from Jamaica, Haiti, the Bahamas, and other Caribbean regions.

Central Charter School's CEO, Hugh Jarrett, expressed his elation about this new chapter in the school's history. He stated, “We wanted a beautiful, new school campus with the best and latest amenities, and we got it. This inspirational space incorporates the latest technology and will inspire our students and faculty alike.” His enthusiasm reflects the hopes and aspirations of the entire school community.

Principal John Billingsley added, “Creating this new school environment is a move toward greatness. We have a remarkable educational program, and now we have it in a remarkable space.” The faculty and staff believe that this well-designed environment will significantly contribute to the students' academic success.

The project has been made possible by Building Hope, a nonprofit that specializes in delivering quality facilities for charter schools. Their commitment to creating quality educational environments aligns with the mission of Central Charter School. Richard Moreno, president of Building Hope, stated, “A space like this unlocks the dreams and aspirations of the young minds who occupy it and will have an impact that extends for generations.” Building Hope has a long-standing tradition of ensuring that quality facilities are not a barrier to educational excellence and has assisted with over $1 billion in school facility development in its two-decade history.

Founded to address the needs of at-risk students in Broward County, Central Charter School is a cornerstone of the local community. The school provides a comprehensive education program focusing on reading, writing, mathematics, and language arts, fostering high expectations for success. It is recognized for its safe environment that promotes not just education but also values proper conduct and manners among its students.

As the Grand Opening approaches, anticipation builds within the community, with students, staff, and families eager to experience their new educational haven. The significantly improved facilities are not just a physical upgrade; they stand as a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in this project. Central Charter School is ready to take its place as a leader in innovative education, providing its students with the resources they need to excel in their futures.
