Kazakhstan's First Multifunctional Community Center Opens in Kosshy, Enhancing Local Infrastructure

On March 20, 2025, the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation, in collaboration with Verny Capital, proudly unveiled Kazakhstan's first multifunctional community center located in the city of Kosshy, in the Akmola region. This state-of-the-art facility, built to international standards, aims to significantly enhance local infrastructure and provide residents with improved access to education, leisure, and social engagement opportunities.

With a total investment of $20 million, this impressive complex spans 8,550 square meters and was gifted to the city of Kosshy to ensure accessibility for all community members. The center comprises numerous spaces, including sports facilities, educational centers, and recreational areas, marking a pivotal milestone in the development of Kazakhstan’s community infrastructure.

Designed with the community's needs in mind, the center features a 233-seat cinema, a 328-seat auditorium, several exhibition and conference rooms, creative studios, coworking spaces, and an extensive library. Moreover, it houses a large multipurpose sports hall with seating capacity as well as outdoor facilities for football, basketball, volleyball, and tennis. Other amenities include training areas, pedestrian zones, and an amphitheater that hosts community events, enriching the complex's offerings.

The center aims to deliver a wide array of programs to cater to diverse interests. Children can engage in activities such as robotics, chess, dance, and crafts, while adults can benefit from coworking spaces and various educational events designed to foster personal and professional growth.

Bulat Utemuratov, the founder of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation, stated, "We are committed to fostering the development of modern and accessible infrastructure that improves the quality of life for communities across Kazakhstan. This community center employs leading global practices, creating a space where residents of Kosshy can learn, engage, and thrive."

The grand opening event was attended by notable figures, including Kazakhstan's Deputy Prime Minister Yermek Kosherbayev, the Akim of the Akmola region, Marat Akhmetzhanov, and the Chair of the Foundation's board, Dr. Almaz Sharman. The establishment of community centers plays a crucial role in promoting social integration and development by providing open and inclusive spaces for education, collaboration, and physical activity.

The Kosshy Community Center is the second significant social project gifted to the city by the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation, following their donation of a modern secondary school in September 2023, which accommodates 1,500 students. As the first facility of its kind in Kazakhstan, the Kosshy Community Center serves as a model for future developments, providing a blueprint for cities across the nation to establish similar centers that promote social cohesion, education, and community engagement.

With its modern design and comprehensive offerings, the center stands to become a vital hub for the Kosshy community, significantly enriching the lives of its residents and setting a standard for community infrastructure projects throughout Kazakhstan. The Bulat Utemuratov Foundation continues to play a critical role in enhancing the welfare of communities, showcasing the potential for positive change through collective efforts and investment in public resources.
