Striving for a Sustainable Society
Daiwa House Real Estate Co., Ltd. has implemented community support initiatives aimed at creating a sustainable society. The company, led by President Mikihiro Hirai, operates under the vision: "Connecting People and Cities as Pieces to a Dream". Recently, they conducted a ‘‘Reuse Items Collection’’ and a ‘‘Food Drive’’ aimed primarily at supporting local welfare facilities and children in need.
Background of the Initiatives
In recent years, environmental issues have escalated due to mass disposal of clothing and miscellaneous goods, alongside rising food waste. Concurrently, economic disparities have widened, leading to a concerning rise in child poverty rates. According to the 2022 Basic Living Survey by the Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare, Japan's child poverty rate reached 11.5%, indicating that approximately 1 in 9 children are living in poverty. Recognizing these pressing social challenges, Daiwa House Real Estate has committed itself to addressing them by embracing three core values: 1) Happiness for society (realizing a sustainable society), 2) Happiness for customers, and 3) Happiness for employees and their families.
To continue facilitating progress towards this vision, the company organized the reuse items collection for the second consecutive year and introduced a food drive to tackle the ongoing social issues.
