Synology Unveils C2 OneStorage to Streamline Hybrid Cloud Resource Management

Synology Launches C2 OneStorage for Hybrid Cloud Optimization

On May 25, 2026, in Tokyo, Japan, Synology announced a strategic overhaul of its C2 cloud ecosystem, spotlighting the introduction of C2 OneStorage. This new platform is designed to optimize resource management for organizations and dynamically adapt investment priorities in cloud adoption.

According to Bie-I Chu, Executive Vice President at Synology, the goal is to provide a seamless hybrid cloud infrastructure that evolves along with customer needs. He emphasized that consolidating C2 services eliminates management complexity, allowing organizations to focus on core business operations and long-term infrastructure flexibility.

Integration of Storage Subscriptions with C2 OneStorage

C2 OneStorage will consolidate C2 Storage, designed for Hyper Backup and Hybrid Share, along with C2 Object Storage, into a single, efficient subscription model. This transition removes the need for separate plans, enabling organizations to dynamically allocate cloud capacity across multiple solutions, thereby maximizing resource utilization.

Strategic Reassessment and Portfolio Restructuring

To allow businesses to focus on critical infrastructure challenges, Synology is reshaping its C2 portfolio and shifting its strategy to prioritize hybrid cloud solutions and essential business workloads. Under this new strategic direction, C2 Identity and Active Insight will concentrate on enterprise-grade access management and operational visibility. Consequently, the freemium tier for these services will no longer be available for new registrations and will be phased out for existing users gradually.

Furthermore, Synology will transition C2 Transfer and C2 Password to an End-of-Life (EoL) status. While new subscriptions will not be accepted, current users will continue to have access throughout the remaining subscription period.

Revamped Synology Account for Comprehensive Management

The newly redesigned Synology Account will serve as a central hub for the C2 ecosystem. This portal will provide administrators with a comprehensive view of Synology resources and enable centralized management of system and package licenses, active devices, services, and partnerships. The updated interface will enhance operational monitoring while maintaining the existing subscription workflows, ensuring a smooth transition without disruptions to active services.

Timeline for Implementation

The strategic updates and service transitions will officially take effect on June 22, 2026, marking the global rollout of Synology C2 OneStorage and the redesigned Synology Account portal. Along with these updates, Synology will introduce a new pricing model reflecting the integrated value of the C2 ecosystem. Existing users will receive direct notifications detailing the transition policy and support for each C2 service, ensuring a seamless experience for all affected services.

With these pioneering changes, Synology is poised to enhance its standing in the hybrid cloud sector, providing users with a more efficient and adaptable infrastructure to meet their evolving needs.
