Liberty HealthShare Launches Fund to Enhance Pediatric Wellness for Children in Stark County

Liberty HealthShare's Charitable Efforts for Children's Health

In a commendable initiative aimed at bolstering children's health in Stark County, Ohio, Liberty HealthShare® has partnered with the Canton Repository to establish the Sharing Hearts Fund for Pediatric Wellness. This charitable fund is set to play a pivotal role in supporting families faced with medical needs associated with pediatric wellness.

The fund addresses a variety of essential health procedures, including physical exams, dental exams and teeth cleaning, vision tests along with eyeglasses, and hearing assessments. These processes are indispensable for children's overall health and development, yet many families struggle to afford them.

Mission and Vision

Dorsey Morrow, the Chief Executive Officer of Liberty HealthShare, articulated the organization's mission, stating, "Our goal is to make it possible for families who have had to forgo these important wellness procedures due to costs to move forward and provide critical checkups for their children." The initiative is particularly focused on reaching out to families in Stark County that lack alternative options to access these essential health services. Morrow emphasized the organization's commitment to being a positive force in the Northeast Ohio region.

Application Process

Families seeking assistance through the Sharing Hearts Fund will undergo a straightforward application process. Applicants will need to indicate the specific procedure they seek funding for and detail their financial needs. This application will be available online via the Sharing Hearts Fund website at www.libertyhealthshare.org/sharing-hearts. Additionally, paper applications can be obtained at Liberty HealthShare’s headquarters located at 4455 Hills Dales Road NW, Canton, Ohio 44708. It is important to note that all submissions must be received by 5 p.m. on April 30 for consideration in the first funding round.

Morrow mentioned the intention to issue calls for funding requests twice a year, expressing a desire to assist as many families as possible. He remarked, "We believe in the value of these wellness procedures for children."

Collaboration with Community Leaders

To ensure fair evaluation of grant requests, Liberty HealthShare has established an Application Review Committee composed of local Stark County leaders who work within fields related to community well-being. This includes representatives from social service agencies and religious organizations. Morrow expressed pride in the collaborative efforts with community partners, highlighting their positive responses and eagerness to support this vital initiative.

Funding for the Sharing Hearts Fund is made possible through donations and grants, and is distinct from the operational funding of the Liberty HealthShare ministry. Morrow noted, "Finding a way to serve by supporting the less fortunate in our hometown has been something we have explored for quite some time. It's exciting to launch The Sharing Hearts Fund during our 30th anniversary year."

In this inaugural funding cycle of 2025, approximately $25,000 is earmarked for distribution. For further inquiries, individuals can reach out to Diana Willey at 330-942-0268 or via email at [email protected].
