Renata Medical Secures $25M to Enhance Pediatric Cardiovascular Solutions
Renata Medical Secures $25 Million Funding Round
Renata Medical, a medical technology company striving to improve care for children suffering from congenital heart disease (CHD), recently announced the conclusion of its Series D financing round, successfully raising $25 million. This funding, led by the global healthcare-focused investment firm ARCHIMED, aims to bolster the company's commercialization efforts, particularly for its pioneering Minima™ Stent System, which is designed specifically for pediatric patients.
The funds acquired will significantly enhance Renata's ability to penetrate the U.S. market and expand its reach into international territories. Moreover, it will allow the company to advance its pipeline of pediatric-specific cardiovascular technologies, ensuring sustained clinical evidence generation as the Minima adoption rate increases among leading congenital heart treatment programs worldwide.
Dustin Armer, Co-founder and CEO of Renata Medical, expressed enthusiasm during the announcement by stating that the uptake of the Minima™ Stent System has surpassed the company's expectations following its commercial launch in 2024. He indicated that the backing from ARCHIMED serves as a testament to the promising future of their contribution to pediatric heart care.
The Minima™ Stent System is the first growth stent that can be balloon-expanded, specifically engineered for neonates, infants, and younger children suffering from conditions such as pulmonary artery stenosis and coarctation of the aorta. Following its FDA premarket approval in August 2024, the device has received additional recognition from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) by awarding it a New Technology Add-on Payment (NTAP) designation in August 2025. This designation provides hospitals with enhanced reimbursement support, ensuring that the technology can be more accessible to the families that need it.
Renata's innovative approach is aimed at rectifying a significant flaw in the current practice of treating pediatric patients with adult-targeted cardiovascular devices. As noted by ARCHIMED Managing Partner André-Michel Ballester, many children with congenital heart defects often undergo repeated procedures simply because their implants fail to grow alongside them. This reality highlights the critical unmet need that the Minima™ Stent System addresses.
ARCHIMED is not only investing in the financial aspects but also providing strategic insights and operational expertise to help Renata Medical scale its operations effectively. With a focus strictly on healthcare, ARCHIMED has cultivated a wealth of knowledge and experience across various domains, including MedTech and Life Science Tools, making them an ideal partner for Renata Medical.
Founded in 2019, Renata Medical, headquartered in Delaware, is dedicated to the innovation, manufacturing, and distribution of medical technologies that cater specifically to pediatric patients around the world. Through their commitment to addressing unmet medical needs in this vulnerable demographic, the company aims to reshape the cardiovascular care landscape for children.
Given the growing acknowledgment of pediatric healthcare demands, this $25 million investment is a pivotal step towards ensuring that more children have access to advanced, tailored treatment options that can literally save lives. As Renata Medical looks to the future, their collaboration with ARCHIMED is expected to significantly enhance their impact on children's healthcare globally.
