Leidos Enhances U.S. Department of State's IT Operations with Evolve Contract Awards

Leidos Enhances IT for U.S. Diplomats

Leidos, a prominent technology and defense contractor, has secured four significant awards under the U.S. Department of State's Evolve contract with the mission of modernizing the IT systems vital for American diplomats around the globe. This initiative aims to bolster cybersecurity and ensure reliable IT service in one of the most extensive and diverse IT environments in the federal government.

The Evolve contract reflects a considerable commitment to upgrading the State Department's IT capabilities, emphasizing secure access to vital data and systems. As part of this effort, Leidos will focus on modernizing applications, upgrading infrastructure, and enhancing the overall reliability of IT services utilized across U.S. embassies and consulates.

Steve Hull, President of Leidos Digital Modernization, commented on the significance of this project, stating, "The Department of State operates one of the most globally dispersed IT environments in the federal government. Diplomats and embassy staff rely on secure, resilient systems that function in any setting. These new awards empower us to provide technology that supports their mission every day."

Leidos has been entrusted with the responsibility of delivering services in four key areas: cloud and data center services, application development, network and telecommunications support, and assistance for customers and end-users. Given the total ceiling of $10 billion, this is a multi-award, indefinite delivery indefinite quantity contract that spans a base period of one year alongside six optional extension years.

With extensive expertise in cloud migration, zero-trust security, and AI-driven operational support, Leidos is well-positioned to help U.S. government agencies advance their cyber defenses, improve information sharing, and sustain operations effectively worldwide. The company employs automation and continuous monitoring in its operations to achieve these objectives effectively.

This deployment of advanced IT resources is part of Leidos' NorthStar 2030 vision, which emphasizes digital modernization, cybersecurity advancements, and customer-centric innovations leveraging AI and IT transformations.

Founded in Reston, Virginia, Leidos has established itself as a leader in providing smarter, more efficient digital solutions and innovations aimed at both government and commercial clients. The company boasts a workforce of around 50,000 employees globally and reported annual revenues of approximately $17.2 billion for the fiscal year that ended on January 2, 2026.

The Evolve contract marks a significant step towards enhancing the operational efficiency of the U.S. Department of State’s IT infrastructure, ensuring that U.S. diplomats and their support teams have access to the technological resources necessary to fulfill their diplomatic missions effectively. As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, the need for secure and reliable IT solutions becomes paramount, making this partnership between Leidos and the State Department a critical development in international diplomacy.
