New Matcha Delights from Eitaro Sohonpo
Eitaro Sohonpo, a well-established Japanese confectionery company based in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, has announced the launch of two limited-time matcha treats: "Tenku no Matcha Kintsuba" and "Nihonbashi Dorayaki Tenku no Matcha." These delights will be available beginning April 23, 2025, and are set to offer a flavorful and rich matcha experience.
Rich Matcha Kintsuba
The "Tenku no Matcha Kintsuba," priced at 270 yen (tax excluded), showcases the luxurious flavor of matcha sourced from Shizuoka Prefecture. This exquisite treat features a matcha anko that’s rich in taste and aroma, striking just the right balance of bitterness.
Eitaro Sohonpo has painstakingly developed the kintsuba to highlight the deep umami and sweetness characteristic of "Tenku no Matcha." Inside the kintsuba, you’ll find adzuki beans that have been candied for an exciting textural contrast. Not only is the kintsuba's outer skin enhanced with matcha, but the entire product is designed to provide a full-bodied matcha flavor, making it a perfect treat for matcha aficionados.
This item is available for a limited time until mid-August 2025, and can be purchased at the main Eitaro Sohonpo store in Nihonbashi, their official online store, and various department stores across Japan.
Delightful Matcha Dorayaki
Eitaro Sohonpo is also excited to present the "Nihonbashi Dorayaki Tenku no Matcha," available for 240 yen (tax excluded). Like the kintsuba, this dorayaki features the same high-quality matcha from Shizuoka Prefecture. The dorayaki batter is crafted using Hokkaido wheat flour combined with rice puree, resulting in a perfect texture that is both elastic and smooth.
Thoughtfully designed to balance moisture and flavor, the dorayaki showcases a matcha anko specifically tailored to enhance the vibrant color and rich taste of matcha. With each bite, you’ll be greeted with the strikingly deep green color of the matcha, visually stunning and deliciously inviting.
Like the kintsuba, the dorayaki will be available from April 23 to mid-August 2025 at Eitaro Sohonpo locations and department stores nationwide.
What is Tenku no Matcha?
"Tenku no Matcha" is famous for its deep flavor profile, cultivated in the lush mountainous regions of Shizuoka. The leaves used for this premium matcha are grown under specific conditions that maximize their nutritional content. By using a method called "obo shita saibai," where the tea plants are shaded from direct sunlight, the leaves grow thicker and more nutrient-rich, giving way to a matcha that has less bitterness and more umami flavor.
The secret to this exceptional taste lies in the meticulous cultivation methods that transform the tea leaves into the ideal matcha source, ensuring a rich and smooth experience in every bite.
