JWLI Bootcamp 2026 Fukui: An Empowering Initiative for Women Leaders
In a remarkable step towards promoting women's leadership, the Fish Family Foundation has announced the inaugural
JWLI Bootcamp 2026 to be held from
June 5 to June 7, 2026, in
Fukui, Japan. This significant event brings a much-needed focus to the development of female leaders within the
Hokuriku region, addressing local challenges and fostering growth.
What is JWLI?
The
Japanese Women’s Leadership Initiative (JWLI), founded in 2003 by
Akiko (Toko) Fish and
Larry Fish, aims to empower women leaders, primarily in the social sector. The initiative encompasses four key programs: the
JWLI Fellowship,
Champions of Change Japan Award (CCJA),
JWLI Bootcamp, and
JWLI Scholarship. To date, over
220 graduates have successfully completed the program, creating tangible social impact in various communities.
Bootcamp Overview
The
JWLI Bootcamp is designed as a
three-day intensive workshop that compresses the extensive
four-week JWLI Fellowship into a localized, Japanese-language format. This program aims to cultivate leaders who are rooted in their communities yet possess a global perspective. Prior editions have been conducted in
seven different regions across Japan, proving the adaptability and effectiveness of the initiative.
The Bootcamp is not just about learning; it’s a platform for participants to engage deeply with pressing social issues. The focus is on building new values in society and exploring sustainable organizational management.
