ModernRails Welcomes Raghu Sastry as CTO to Transform Global Payments Systems
ModernRails Appoints Raghu Sastry as New Chief Technology Officer
In a major development aimed at enhancing its global payments infrastructure, ModernRails has officially announced the appointment of Raghu Sastry as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). This strategic move underscores the company's unwavering commitment to building a unified, global payments operating system that seamlessly integrates messaging, clearing, and settlement into one cohesive real-time infrastructure layer.
With over twenty years of extensive experience in the technology sector, Sastry brings a wealth of expertise in key areas such as semiconductors, enterprise infrastructure, mobile platforms, and financial technology. As CTO of ModernRails, he will be pivotal in shaping the company's technology strategy, refining platform architecture, and driving product innovation. His mandate includes scaling the company's orchestration capabilities, particularly in relation to domestic and cross-border payment systems.
David Park, CEO of ModernRails, stated, "Raghu operates at the intersection of performance engineering and financial infrastructure. We are not building merely another payments application; we are crafting the core control layer that facilitates global money movement. Raghu's expertise in designing high-performance systems at scale is essential to bringing this vision to fruition."
Before joining ModernRails, Sastry made significant contributions to FinTech Automation by developing its infrastructure platform. His impressive career also includes senior roles at respected firms such as Agilent Technologies, PMC-Sierra, Junowallet, and Zeuss Technologies. In these positions, he excelled in leading the development of large-scale, production-grade systems encompassing both hardware and software frameworks.
His technical acumen covers diverse areas including VLSI design, distributed systems, server and storage architecture, mobile application frameworks, as well as payments and compliance infrastructure tailored for regulated financial institutions. This background positions Sastry uniquely to handle ModernRails' ambitions.
At ModernRails, Sastry's immediate priority will be to further develop the company’s ISO 20022-native architecture, which is set to enhance data interoperability across various payment systems. He aims to spearhead real-time orchestration across essential global rails, which encompass both domestic real-time payment networks and cross-border settlement frameworks. His leadership is expected to integrate messaging and clearing into a single unified execution layer, addressing the current issues of fragmentation and enabling reliable, auditable transaction flows.
In his own words, Sastry remarked, "The challenges facing global payments today stem from fragmented systems and asynchronous processes. ModernRails is tackling these challenges at the infrastructure level by uniting messaging, clearing, and settlement into a comprehensive, real-time platform. This initiative provides an opportunity to redefine how financial institutions operate on a larger scale—with data-driven orchestration and embedded intelligence at its core."
Raghu Sastry holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of South Florida and is credited with nine U.S. patents, alongside more than twenty published research articles. This impressive academic background is complemented by a career that merges both theoretical knowledge and practical engineering skills.
