EY Japan Announces the Third Student Rule Formation Idea Contest for Social Innovation

EY Japan Launches the Third Student Rule Formation Idea Contest

EY Japan has officially opened the application period for the Third Student Rule Formation Idea Contest, which encourages students to contribute their perspectives on shaping a better society. This year’s theme embraces a broad range of topics including social peace, political reforms, new work styles, and innovations in societal norms.

Contest Overview

This contest aims to harness the unique insights of younger generations to stimulate discussions and propose actionable initiatives that could help revitalize Japan. The winners will not only receive cash prizes—120,000 yen for the first place, 60,000 yen for second, and 30,000 yen for third—but will also have the chance to present their ideas to political parties and related bodies, further enhancing the visibility of their proposals.

Last Year’s Success

In the previous contest, held last year, nearly 100 teams participated, totaling 376 individuals. The breadth of ideas proposed demonstrated the creativity and critical thinking skills of students today. Some of the past winners have continued to push their ideas into actionable policies, interacting with lawmakers and demonstrating the effective impact of youth-driven initiatives.

A Statement from EY’s Leadership

Kondo Satoshi, the President of EY Strategy and Consulting, expressed excitement about the contest: “We are eager to see the diverse and flexible ideas that emerge from students this year. Last year's theme, focused on 'dreams,' led to proposals that painted a hopeful picture of the future. EY is committed to supporting young people in voicing their innovative ideas for societal change.” Additionally, Toshi Koku, Strategic Impact Partner at EY, highlighted the importance of ongoing engagement in societal issues, encouraging previous participants to refine and present their ideas again this year.
