In a significant step towards sustainability and digital learning, Huawei, in collaboration with JA Solar, UNESCO, and the Thai Ministry of Education, has launched the 'Green Education Project' in Thailand. Officially inaugurated on December 3, 2024, at the Banna District Learning Encouragement Center in Nakhon Nayok, this initiative aims to foster environmental awareness and equip a new generation of digitally skilled learners.

Project Objectives and Scope

The Green Education Project, part of Huawei’s TECH4ALL initiative, targets eleven schools and community centers across Thailand, focusing on integrating clean energy solutions with educational programs in information and communication technology (ICT). With the ongoing challenges in education and energy sectors, particularly in underserved rural areas, this project stands out as a vital intervention that combines renewable energy with practical training.

David Li, CEO of Huawei Thailand, emphasized that this project surpasses typical Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. “It’s a long-term investment in the youth and future of Thailand. By merging clean energy solutions with hands-on education, we aspire to create a model for sustainable growth and integration,” he noted.

Hands-On Learning Experience

The initiative's first beneficiaries, including the Banna District Learning Encouragement Center, will offer training in green energy and digital skills, aiming to close the qualification gap in poorly served regions. The Kanchanapisek Vocational Training College in Nong Chok will utilize donated photovoltaic (PV) systems to teach students about installation, maintenance, and operation, giving them essential technical skills sought after in the job market.

Educators and local leaders have responded positively to the potential of the Green Education Project. Tisakorn Klinbooppha, director of the Banna Center, stated, “This project is an excellent example of how collaboration between global companies and local schools can drive meaningful change. Educational Pillars of the Project

The Green Education Project is structured around three main pillars:
1. Green Schools for Secondary Education: By installing solar systems on secondary school rooftops, teachers and students will learn about the benefits and operation of green energy.
2. Green Schools for Vocational Education: This initiative is designed to empower students in technical vocational institutions, preparing them for careers in the rapidly growing renewable energy sector through practical experience with PV systems.
3. Green Communities: Public libraries and community learning centers will receive programs focused on renewable energy and mobile digital education, offering training on green energy solutions and cybersecurity through Huawei's Digital Bus.

The Digital Bus Initiative

The Huawei Digital Bus has already provided free training on green energy, cybercrime awareness, and telecommunications topics to students in Nakhon Nayok. This mobile educational platform has reached ten remote provinces in Thailand, benefiting over 4,500 students with critical knowledge and skills essential for a sustainable future.
