Toyota Mobility Foundation and University of Tokyo Launch New Program for Young Changemakers

Empowering Future Changemakers: "Good Life on Earth" Program

The Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF), led by Chairman Akio Toyoda, has unveiled the fifth round of its "Good Life on Earth" program, designed to support high school and university students in bringing their innovative ideas to life. In collaboration with the One Earth Guardians initiative at the University of Tokyo, the program encourages young individuals passionate about diverse topics to develop solutions that contribute to a sustainable future.

Program Overview

Starting in 2022, this initiative has seen 29 participants so far, each working on their unique projects. The program seeks applicants who are inspired by their passions—be it fashion, cuisine, sound, design, or even unconventional subjects like seaweed and insects—to explore how their ideas can promote a better life on Earth. Those who pass the selection process will receive mentoring from esteemed professors at the University of Tokyo, guiding them through the development and refinement of their projects.

Support and Resources

Participants will not only get personalized guidance but also support for expenses associated with their activities, ensuring that financial concerns do not hinder their creative journeys. Additionally, they will join workshops and sessions designed for collaboration and idea enhancement, thereby fostering an engaging community experience.

Timeline and Application Details

The application period runs from May 12 to June 9, 2026. An informational session is scheduled for May 24 at the University of Tokyo’s Yayoi Campus. This event will provide insights into the program, including the chance to ask questions directly to program coordinators. Those who wish to attend should register by May 21, to secure their spot.

Who Can Apply?

The program is open to high school students, technical college students, and university first- and second-year students across Japan—particularly those who resonate with the initiative’s aims and are eager to take on challenges related to sustainability and innovation.

Joining a Thriving Community

As TMF continues to evolve, the fifth cohort aims to foster a community where youthful energy and enthusiasm thrive together. With diverse interests paving the way for collaboration, participants can broaden their horizons while remaining true to their passions. By nurturing a support network comprising peers who share similar ambitions, students will be better positioned to realize their visions of a healthier planet.

The Toyota Mobility Foundation, established in 2014, focuses on enhancing societal well-being through mobility-related contributions. This aligns seamlessly with the goals of the One Earth Guardians organization, which seeks to inspire a new generation of eco-conscious leaders.

As the world navigates pressing environmental issues, TMF stands as a guiding force, promoting initiatives that address the challenges of modern mobility and sustainability. With the next wave of participants ready to push boundaries, the "Good Life on Earth" program promises to cultivate essential skills and ideas that could influence the future positively.
