TMI Legal Office Welcomes Prominent Attorney Kentaro Suzuki as Partner

TMI Legal Office Strengthens Its Expertise with New Partner

On February 1, 2026, TMI Law Offices, headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, proudly announced the addition of Kentaro Suzuki as a new partner. Under the leadership of Chief Attorney Katsuhiro Tanaka, this move marks a significant enhancement in their capacity to offer legal services, especially in the areas of finance and corporate governance.

Kentaro Suzuki brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to TMI. After obtaining his law degree from Keio University, he furthered his education at New York University's School of Law, where he earned an LL.M. in Corporation Law. His career began with the Tokyo Bar Association, and he has since engaged in various significant legal roles, including stints at major domestic law firms and international entities such as Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in New York. Additionally, his work at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry provided him with invaluable governmental experience.

Suzuki's extensive experience in leveraged buyouts (LBOs), venture capital investments, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), and corporate governance highlights his expertise. He has served numerous financial institutions and private equity funds, making him an asset to the firm's existing clients and a vital addition to its growing legal team. His practical knowledge in finance and corporate matters is expected to improve the legal services offered to TMI’s diverse clientele.

The firm’s comprehensive legal practice has long been a standout in Japan, with a portfolio that includes several successful cases in finance, particularly in LBO financing. TMI’s reputation as one of Japan’s largest full-service law firms, boasting a team of 678 attorneys and 101 patent attorneys as of February 2, 2026, can only be further solidified by Suzuki's appointment.

Alongside Suzuki, three additional attorneys—Shintaro Arai, Shuhei Maruoka, and Kura Yamashita—will also join TMI as associates, bringing their specialized knowledge to the firm. All lawyers have collaborated closely on matters of finance and corporate governance in their previous engagements, aiming to create a dynamic team that meets and exceeds client expectations.

Beyond traditional legal work, TMI Law Offices has continuously embraced new challenges since its foundation in 1990. Committed to serving both domestic and international clients, the firm operates across eight locations in Japan and 19 overseas, further enhancing its reach as a global law firm. Their goal to innovate the image of legal practice is evidenced by partnerships with venture startups, local governments, and academic institutions.

With Kentaro Suzuki's expertise now part of the TMI team, clients can look forward to increasingly robust legal solutions tailored to their financial and corporate needs. As always, TMI strives to respond promptly and effectively to a vast spectrum of legal challenges, fortifying its position as a leader in the legal sector.
