Fireaway Achieves Significant Milestone with Stat-X® Approval
Fireaway Inc. has recently announced a groundbreaking achievement with the approval of their Stat-X® condensed aerosol fire suppression systems by Bureau Veritas. This significant approval follows thorough evaluations in accordance with the MSC.1/Circ.1270 standard, ensuring that these innovative fire suppression solutions are now certified for marine use within the European Union and the United Kingdom.
On June 9, 2026, the company revealed that three pivotal certificates had been issued, validating their application in marine environments regulated by the SOLAS convention. These certificates confirm the effectiveness and safety of the Stat-X® systems when deployed on maritime vessels that are registered under EU and UK flags.
Key Certifications and Their Importance
The Bureau Veritas Type Approval Certificate (23277/D1 BV) distinctly certifies that Stat-X systems meet the rigorous requirements set out by the modified SOLAS 74 Convention, the FSS Code, and applicable high-speed craft codes, and remains valid until October 22, 2030. Additionally, a CE Type Examination Certificate (81823/A0 MED) has been granted according to the EU Marine Equipment Directive 2014/90/EU, which attests to the brand's adherence to safety standards. This certificate is valid until April 8, 2031. Finally, a Type Examination Certificate for the UK (81824/A0 UK) has also been issued, complying with the Merchant Shipping (Marine Equipment) Regulations 2025, authorized by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, which similarly extends to April 8, 2031.
Lance Harry, PE, President and CEO of Fireaway Inc., expressed, "This approval confirms that the Stat-X systems comply with the evaluation criteria established for marine applications. It also reflects the structured process through which performance validation, technical assessment, and certification converge in practical applications."
These certifications encompass a total of 15 generator models from Fireaway’s E series (electric activation) and T series (thermal activation), specifically designed for closed naval machinery compartments. The Stat-X systems are compact, non-conductive, and apt for installation in various marine settings, including machinery spaces, control cabinets, and auxiliary equipment enclosures.
