Positive Health Changes from Pal System's Exercise Campaign

Recently, Pal System Cooperative Federation, located in Shinjuku, Tokyo and led by Chairman Atsuyuki Shibusawa, conducted an exercise campaign aimed at promoting health among its employees. The campaign, running from October 6 to November 2, engaged 180 employees in various activities like yoga classes and walking events, resulting in significant health improvements.

According to a survey conducted after the campaign, approximately 40% of respondents indicated they experienced health changes, with 8.3% confirming they felt substantial improvement, while 32.1% noted minor changes. Common reported benefits included weight loss, reduced shoulder tension, and increased stamina. Some participants even reported relief from headaches, indicating a genuinely positive impact on overall well-being.

Overall, 91.5% of employees expressed a desire to maintain their exercise routines post-campaign. Specifically, 34.9% stated they could likely exercise daily, a remarkable statistic that highlights the campaign's success in motivating staff. Many participants shared that they had started walking more regularly or even joining gyms. Some have resumed their outdoor walking activities, reflecting a broad commitment to improved health.

The exercise campaign included daily stretch encouragement as part of workplace activities, yoga sessions that resonated well with employees, and walking events which fostered community spirit and camaraderie among staff. Participants found yoga particularly beneficial, reporting enhanced flexibility and a greater focus on breathing. This activity has led many to integrate yoga into their daily lives, becoming a routine they cherish.

Interestingly, several employees suggested that the organization provide video recordings of yoga sessions for future access, showcasing their enthusiasm for continued engagement in fitness. The feedback from the participants indicated a strong preference for ongoing initiatives that support health and fitness.

The survey, which received responses from 110 employees, also asked if the campaign could inspire future exercise habits. Notably, respondents shared that they felt motivated to step out more often and to embrace healthy routines. Engaging in such activities has not only helped them physically but also served to strengthen the bond among coworkers.

Pal System Cooperative Federation continues to inspire its members with initiatives like this, especially considering that 2025 marks the International Year of Cooperatives. Such campaigns not only enhance individual health but contribute to a stronger organizational culture focused on wellness and community.
