Upcoming Online Seminar: Essential SBT Developments
On December 4th, Yachiyo Engineering Co., Ltd. will host a free online seminar titled "Crucial Updates on SBT for Carbon Neutrality Managers." This event aims to clarify the latest trends in Science Based Targets (SBT) and the critical changes that businesses need to be aware of as they pursue carbon neutrality.
With growing global concern surrounding climate change risks, an increasing number of companies are committing to SBT as a scientifically grounded framework for greenhouse gas reduction targets. In Japan, the number of SBT-certified companies, or those committed to these targets, surpassed 2,000 as of November 2025, signaling a shift toward SBT becoming a standard for decarbonization management.
However, companies that achieved SBT certification earlier are now approaching their five-year review period. In July 2025, the SBTi released the "Mandatory Review Guidance" which will apply to all accredited companies starting December 18, 2025. This means existing certified companies must quickly adapt to these new requirements and keep up with ongoing amendments, including revisions to the "Corporate Net-Zero Standard."
The seminar aims to digest these updates and changes in a straightforward manner and to provide companies with actionable strategies for obtaining their SBT certification and for navigating the five-year review process ahead.
This seminar is particularly recommended for:
- - Businesses aiming to acquire new SBT certifications and wanting to stay updated on the latest standards and trends.
- - Companies nearing renewal of their SBT certification.
- - Those wishing to comprehensively understand new developments surrounding the Corporate Net Zero Standard.
- - Individuals interested in cutting-edge initiatives in climate change and environmental fields and the latest trends in SBT.
