North Island Credit Union Foundation Invites Applications for Teacher Grants

The North Island Credit Union Foundation is excited to announce its call for applications for the Teacher Grant program aimed at empowering innovative projects in San Diego County classrooms. This fall, the foundation will award ten grants of $500 each to full-time teachers who demonstrate creative ideas that inspire learning and engagement among students.

The application process is open to teachers in San Diego and Riverside Counties, as well as to members of the credit union who are teaching in California. The projects eligible for funding should include clearly defined learning objectives connected to the students' academic needs and demonstrate creativity while benefiting a significant number of students.

Marvel Ford, President of the North Island Credit Union Foundation, stated, "Supporting education is a crucial aspect of our foundation's mission. Through our teacher grant program, we aim to transform innovative classroom ideas into practical implementations that spark curiosity and connection among students. We encourage local teachers to apply and share their visions with us."

Teachers interested in this opportunity can find more information and submit their applications online. The deadline for submissions is September 29, 2025.

History and Impact of the Grant Program

Since its inception in 2012, the North Island Credit Union Foundation's Teacher Grant program has awarded a substantial total of $215,000 in grants. These funds have supported a multitude of engaging and educational projects. Past recipients have launched initiatives such as designing an underwater city, constructing bridges and model houses, initiating an entrepreneur course for high school seniors, and establishing sensory gardens and community learning spaces.

By offering these grants, the foundation not only contributes to enhancing student learning experiences but also fosters a culture of creativity and innovation among teachers.

Commitment to Community Empowerment

The North Island Credit Union Foundation operates with a clear vision of enhancing community empowerment. It emphasizes four key pillars: investing in community youth, supporting educators and schools, promoting financial literacy, and honoring service members.

As the philanthropic arm of North Island Credit Union, the foundation ensures that all administrative costs are covered by California Credit Union, allowing 100% of donations to be redirected to community programs.

An Invitation to Educators

The foundation invites educators across the region to bring their innovative ideas to life with financial support. This initiative further strengthens the bond of community, education, and opportunity, which is so vital for the development of future generations. Teachers are encouraged to seize this opportunity to enhance learning experiences and make a positive impact in their students' lives.
