Join the LOVE OCEAN Movement: A Unique Community Engagement for Coastal Cleanup in Kanagawa

Join the LOVE OCEAN Movement

In Kanagawa Prefecture, the Riviera Future Creation Project, a designated NPO, is inviting participants for the LOVE OCEAN initiative, now in its sixth year. This project, which focuses on marine conservation and stimulating local economies, aims to unite communities under the banner of “The ocean is connected.”

This year's LOVE OCEAN will cover an extensive coastal area of 110km, stretching from Miura to Yugawara, and will connect various cleanup efforts across 13 municipalities. The movement encourages participation from citizens, students, corporations, and tourists alike, promoting a community-wide approach to environmental action.

New Phase of LOVE OCEAN

This year's initiative signifies a new phase in its evolution, transforming into a cooperative citizen engagement movement. Utilizing the experience garnered over the past six years, participants will engage in cleanup activities that connect the beaches and fishing ports along the Shonan Coast, creating a model that promotes both marine environmental conservation and local economic revitalization.

  • - The movement will not just focus on “spot cleaning”; it aims to coordinate actions across various regions.
  • - Involvement from local residents will lead to collaborative efforts that strengthen community ties.
  • - A cross-municipal partnership involving 13 municipalities will ensure extensive outreach and impact.

Call for Participants

Anyone interested can participate for free, making this event accessible to a wide audience, including students, families, tourists, and corporate volunteers. Each participant can feel a sense of contribution, knowing their efforts help preserve the marine ecosystem.

  • - Participation Fee: Free
  • - Eligibility: All ages welcome
  • - What to Bring: Comfortable clothing suited for activity and hydration.
