CoVar's BullsEye Counter-Drone Technology at Warden 2026
CoVar, a leading tech company specializing in advanced defense technologies, made waves at the U.S. Army's Warden 2026 demonstration by unveiling its BullsEye counter-drone capability. This innovative system is engineered to detect, track, and localize unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) efficiently using devices that are already in the hands of soldiers, such as standard Android phones and military-grade Nett Warrior devices.
Over the course of this two-week event, which featured a mix of industry players and military personnel, the Army tested various drones and drone swarms to validate the effectiveness of counter-small unmanned aircraft systems (C-sUAS). CoVar’s BullsEye excelled in the detection phase, utilizing passive sensing technology with the built-in cameras of the Android devices.
High-Tech Solutions in the Field
BullsEye turns commercially available devices into robust multi-function sensing and communication solutions. This groundbreaking approach eliminates the need for specialized hardware, as the system leverages existing components like cameras, microphones, and onboard computing resources. Consequently, there is no necessity for additional AI or machine learning equipment, making it a cost-effective, efficient solution for military operations.
During the demonstration, CoVar successfully showcased how the BullsEye system operates both as a standalone unit and within a networked framework. A single BullsEye device provides operators with real-time information regarding the location and tracking of aerial threats, directly within their handsets or via ATAK (Android Team Awareness Kit). By networking multiple devices, the system can perform triangulation, providing accurate geolocation data which enhances the situational awareness of operators in real-time.
Dr. Joe Camilo, CoVar's Vice President and Executive Lead for the BullsEye product line, highlights the system's advantages: “Counter-drone capabilities do not have to mean extra burdens for soldiers. By utilizing the technology in their hands, we have redefined how threats are identified and reported.”
A Commitment to National Security
Warden 2026 is part of a broader initiative within the U.S. Army to continually assess the effectiveness of counter-drone solutions, accelerating the deployment of the most efficient technologies into active service. The data gathered during the event will shape future evaluations and developments in this critical sector.
CoVar remains committed to further advancing its BullsEye system, working closely with military partners to deliver innovative solutions that enhance operational capabilities against UAV threats. The company specializes in artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions tailored to meet the demanding needs of national security missions, ensuring that troops are armed with reliable technologies as they face evolving threats in the field.
